My Oly XZ1 is conceptually very near to what I need form a compact camera. Just add AE-L, a dedicated fisheye, a foldable sport viewfinder and a sensible AutoISO mode.
For everything else small DSLRs are already perfect for me.

On Buyer's Guide: Enthusiast raw-shooting compact cameras article (286 comments in total)

Nice article. I read it with interest, even if I totally disagree with the conclusions. In my opinion P7100 and G12 aren't even in the same category of XZ-1, LX5, EX1 and X10. They can't be compared because of their slow lenses. That's all. My preference went to XZ-1 but X10 was noon the shelves ye. LX5 was an option too for its great wideangle. S95 was not an option because of its slow lens at tele end, but I consider it far better than G12. S100 wasn't available yet.

The display is too little, even considering that you don't need it to check focus. They could use a wider one eg 16/9 that rotate and slip inside along the long side.

On Mountain bike photography technique article (41 comments in total)

Interesting article
Wishes for part 2 if any:
use of AF and MF technics in different situations
use of compact cameras by bikers who like to take some pictures
That's why most times all that I can bring with me is a premium compact camera and many times a weather resistant P&S.
Can I have some decent MTB pictures with this cameras?

On Fujifilm announces X10 high-end enthusiast compact news story (279 comments in total)

Nice camera! Just a bit too late for me. I forgot about having an optical viewfinder on a compact camera just two or three years ago, and now I can easily do without it. I bought a Oly XZ-1 and I'm happy with it. I just don't want another bulky camera with a tiny sensor.
In any case, I think it can be good for many of us.

I wonder if VF3 iworks with XZ1 too. It would be perfect on that small camera!
