2 things about f 2 as apposed to say 2.8 - bokeh and faster focusing .
Do you want either or both ?
Bokeh depends on distance and f stop .
Faster focusing is f stop , focus motor , contrast and...

My 50 1.8 mk 1 front focused on XTI . Adjusted on 7 D - OK but the 17-55 just did a better job .
I seldom shoot in light so low the 2.8 with IS can not handle .
When checked at camera store , the...

No , but the AF on my 28 does not work - not worth sending to canon to find out why .

Cheapest route is to buy rubber hoods . Don't get wrong idea - the rubber ones I have are for the CPL's , but work OK when you lose or break the petal ones .
I prefer the 5 ring one , but have 3 ,...

If you are the only owner , you can do a search for shot number like
IMG_2926.JPG , if more than one shows up add 9999 to it .
This only works if you save your shots to computer . You can get bad...

Thanks , others may not have know . The whole point of these posts is for everyone to get the info or you and I would be doing private emails .
I have both types . Right now my cane pod has the...

Another thing to remember / keep in mind is that you loose a stop for about each 12 mm of tube . Same with extrnders = 1.4 , 1 stop -- 2X - 2 stops .
I have not seen the loss with diopters .

Weight limits can be based on closed or extended , type of mount [ steel , alunmium , brass ] the weight before the height adjustments start to slip .
It could even be when monopod tubes start to...

I kind of agreed , but I use my diopters more than the raynox [ more of a fish eye look ] or extension tubes[ older kenko non EFS ones ]
My diopters are B+W - 1 - 5 and used mainly on the 180...

I use ebay and KEH for prices - but I don't sell my gear .

1st , decide what a new body will do that your's can't .
10 years ago , there was a big difference between 2.8 and 4 . now with high ISO , it might be one stop higher ISO .

1st , pay extra for insurance
buy a few rain sleeves . Rent a couple of filters [ easier to shangea filter than clean a lens ] make sure it comes with a hood .
70-200 mk II + 1.4...

I agree . Shoot with the 24- for a while to find your MM size .
I would also shoot raw . In DPP you can add flash to get an idea . I use the pop up for fill sometimes - maybe a 270 on a bracket ?

An easy answer - look at your shots . How many are at 30 mm ?
If 30 was wide or long enough , all your shots would be there .

Anyone learning photography learns on a right hand model .
While I have a left handed 45 and 270 , both were special order decades ago .
Most left handed people are smart enough to learn to...

Depends on what you are shooting / want
35-350 - great walk around - not cheap
135-400 sigma - OK to reach out , but IQ falls with an extender
70-300 quantaray macro - OK
-
The 18-135 means you have a crop . 85 on a crop is a little long . Try it on the zoom at 85 .
Using a flash with the 50 or 85 = bad bokeh . Bokeh is better at wider apertures .
With out a flash =...

I went with the 70-200 mk II .
A lens AF is at the widest f stop [ 2.8 ] . While not that important on a 'pod , it can mean the difference between getting a shot and missing it [ lower light , AF...

As an all around , the 100 L .
But you are comparing a station wagon to a small truck . Either will work for most things , but both have their own good points .
Activity older than 12 months is not displayed.
