Add a big grip and 2 batteries and the camera will absorb/dampen more shock. Maybe that why some of us recon we get better pictures with a grip.

I have just tried a XD M+ 2GB Card in my E-620 and it works fine. ( If very slow can be called fine) Select scene mode no 9. It puts the camera into live view mode for panorama.
