Thank you! The first waterfall was right at the side of the road, so an easy setup. The second was a 1/4 mile steep and slippery hike that ended in a pile of boulders and fallen logs.
Thanks...

Thank you! The 17mm gave the perfect perspective for these and two other waterfalls that I shot.

Thank you,Ellen. Finding stable but well situated footing for my tripod was the most difficult part.

Both of these shots suffer from lens diffraction because of the narrow apertures. The skies were overcast and I used both polarizer and 4-stop ND filters to blur the water flow at 1 sec and 1.3...

I use the 5f 1.0 ev setting in bracketing and Photomatix Pro software.

You may want to shoot a waterfall at 1/4 or even a full second to "capture the flow". Unless you travel to Ireland regularly, I'd hate to miss a great shot (and I suspect there are many to be...

I'm a light packer, but going to Ireland to do HDR, I'd hate to be without a tripod. I travel abroad with a Sirui T-005X 5 piece aluminum tripod...folds to 11.8", weighs 1.9 lbs, comes with a quick...

These owls nest in a tree not far from our home. Both images were made with Pentax K20D and Sigma 100-300mm f4.

The buds look like they're "reaching for the sky"... but for water or sunshine? :-)

Thank you again, Kewee :-) Yes, indeed, I did not so much want to copy Nighthawks as to imitate the contrasty style. Since boulangeries are typically the first public businesses to open in the...

Thank you for commenting. I'll bet with a little "Photoshopping" you could pull it off :-) Jim

Vittorio, alas, I confess to being a fan without having studied him sufficiently. I appreciate the art lesson...it has prompted me to delve deeper...I thank you for that. Jim
