Nikolausz: Sony a600 should be the winner here. OK, It's won the mid-range category hands down but it would be also contender here.
Obviously Nikolausz was talking about Sony a6000, anyhow DPR need flatterers like yourself, keep up the good work
Reinhard136: Looks like if Nikon rebadged the Pentax Q, and upped the price to $1600, it would have been in contention too ........ and if Sony make the A7 ii too cheap it will be chucked in with the beginners cameras ..... hmmm someone asleep at the wheel ?
F2.8 stands for f8,4 equivalent, if that is decent to you that'a fine .
Petrogel: Hasselblad is the great example of how to make easy money on idiots .
The unfortunate thing was, that we were witnessing a parody, three of Sony's photo-cameras RX100, NEX-7 and SLT A99 were "redesigned" and re-sold for 3 to 4 times their initial (by their original manufacturer -Sony-) price. Hasselblad decided to become a Sony's reseller for people that had money to waste. They still can expand their product catalogue, by "re-designing" a Hasselblad BRAVIA-TV or a Hasselblad Xperia Z3 smartphone or maybe a Hasselblad playstation 4 (that last one may become a best seller).
Hasselblad is the great example of how to make easy money on idiots .
red fuji: Egypt was definetly more prosperous in the old days under British rule than now under the Isalmic rule; sorry to say.
Egypt was prosperous enough just before the motivated Arabic "spring". Under the British rule the only prosperous were the British.
Wes Syposz: the real news would if Apple announced moving back its manufacturing to US of A...
$2 in China $800 in the US.
Scottelly: Where is the iPad pro? I've been hoping they would make an iPad with a retina display, which they could also use on a new generation of the 13" MacBook Air . . . but it never materializes.
I think there would be a big market for a tablet with a bigger screen . . . especially with 4K video coming.
Better be sorry for what you write, Windows RT is a version of Microsoft's operating system designed specifically for ARM-based devices, however, it is unable to run legacy (Intel X86-based) Windows apps. THE ONLY THING THEY HAVE IN COMMON is the Modern UI Style (formerly Metro).
Even designing it, doesn't make it made in US !!!!!!
There are different codes for different CPU memory store ability cores, there are two different Operational Systems, looking alike and "occasionally" working together
Petrogel: Unfortunately, Apple stays Internet depended, Thunderbolt remain useless, usb 3 is not an option (on iPads, as far as i know) and the useless 5k is the main feature for iMacs,
@graybalanced Mate sorry that took me so long to respond, i had to downgrade to Lion first, cause of Yosemite's wholeness (or hole-ness), is not exactly 100% ready wet (maybe in a month)
Mate, you can spent your $2600 on whatever you feel like, specially if you own a 14mp camera and what you were waiting for, was that 14mp pixel per pixel screen
I, on the other hand, own a couple of 16mp Nikons (bought second hand -for timelapses- ) and a 24mp Sony (which means i won't have that pixel to pixel screen not even on a 5k), a color calibrated hd €200 EIZO and i can zoom to pixel size when editing, as my budget is limited, i would prefer to buy a Mac Pro than a 5K anything
By the way there is nothing recording on 5K and the multimedia offered on $500 4k monitors are limited I don't hate them there are just useless ... to me !!!
Menneisyys . IOS and OS X it's like Windows 8 (or 8.1) and Windows RT they suppose to work together, but they have nothing in common. I'm not sure if Apple is "behind" Microsoft the way we mean behind, (i beleive Apple is behind in a more sensual way)
Seriously, Apple is not what it used to be (my opinion) , but Microsoft need to do a lot on their next OS to catch up.
I must admit that scenery is like it's out of a movie, great photos, an HDR, high ISO, starry time-lapse from inside a sandy window would be even greater !!!!
Surface Pro is one point for Microsoft (over any tablet or iPad), but Menneisyys those windows 8 is a step backwards for computer evolution..... a complete failure !!!!
@peevee1Assembling Mac pro in the US, doesn't necessarily means that is "Made in" US
Thunderbolt is as useless as the air drop, works only with apple products, as for that lacie external drive costs two times the price of a USB one, only because of the T/bolt cable.
That means Thunderbolt is obviously useless
This is a cell-phone site, and it is useless to me, as i can zoom to pixel-size on an ordinary hd monitor to edit
I have seen seen a 4k demo and also an EOS 1D C recording, both were really astonishing, in a quick search we made we couldn't find a single movie edited in 4k and sold in Greece, and the main problem we had editing the 4k video taken with the EOS, was that the whole process was "processor-and-time-draining".
I got into buying a telly (a 4k telly) but i've dropped it, as there were no broadcasting, nor big variety of movies edited in 4k, so for the time being, is a waste of money (from the corner of the globe i'm sitting on).
1. Recorded 4k videos can be seen on a 4k and $500 monitors 2. If you want to spent $2600 on text writing, suits you
You know you shouldn't, but you already did .... twice !! - don't worry i won't berate you -As for the 5k, i was not talking about the processor but about the availability of 5k in movies, games or whatever, because in photography color calibration is more necessary than 5k.
Menneisyys: "For those who prefer desktop computers over tablets Apple also introduced a new iMac with 5K Retina display that offers a whopping 5120 x 2880 screen resolution."
This is THE best news for me. (Even with the $2500 base model only sporting a weakish i5 and a severely underpowered GPU, meaning anyone wanting at least a semi-decent GPU will need to shell out $500 more for the CTO options.)
I REALLY hope the new iMac screens don't use PWM (see http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/pulse_width_modulation.htm ) - that'd pretty much rule it out for me. (I hate the PWM screen of my iMac 2009.)
I forgot of you !!!!!
