Of course, I was merely addressing the people who apparently let the camera used affect their judgement of the picture. "It was taken with a phone camera so it sucks!" A bad photographer can take...
-
"Pressing the shutter release button fully after starting up the camera in playback mode can switch to shooting mode." I was surprised it didn't already do this, and tested - sure enough it does...

Unless you ask a cook what stove was used to prepare your meal, you should not ask a photographer what camera was used to take a picture. It diminishes the role of the craftsman.

Not "for free", they paid the photographer. And it's "subsidized" in the same way the Army os "subsidized": It is a service that the Government feels they need to finance because the market does...

Well, if you "recreate" a photograph you have seen by going to the location and shoot a picture yourself, does that make it a derivate work because of your inspiration?

Making money off a national monument does not at all make Gaylord seem a greedy man... :/

Copyright used to be an agreement between printers (or in effect their guild) that the Crown took over. I wonder what had happened had it remained a private affair (instead of law) when the guilds...

This notion that artists deserve payment shows that artists have no clue about business. No, nobody has any duty to pay an artist for his work, there is no "deserving" independent of the quality of...

Yes; this is the reason that out-of-copyright plays like Romeo and Juliet are known to everyone as part of the cultural heritage, while only those that work in the industry know of most plays made...

I take my phone with me always. I do not bother dragging my Canon 5D mk III with me everywhere. See the point? The phone will capture shots the DSLR will not because the DSLR was not there when...

There is a lens, there is a sensor, there is capture taking place. So it is a camera. Some people sound like the large- and medium-format die-hards said when that teeny-weeny 35mm film on a roll...

That's like believing that an indian tandoori chef could make better food with a modern induction stove than his old stone oven... i.e. missing the point. Photography is composition and exposure,...

This is what those that hoped the iPhone 5C would be cheap did not realize as well :)

Amazing, you people are... When you get a good meal at a restaurant, do you ask what kind of stove the cook used? Sheesh!

The megapixel wars ended when Canon made a 120 megapixel proof-of-concept sensor. Not that they will ever use that thing, though.

Ricoh made one (interchangeable sensor and lens modules). Some are fans of it, but not everyone...

@Silvarum, the rest of us know that the information read by the sensor is the light, and if there is less light "data" per pixel to read then there is less accuracy in the reading. Adding complex...
