Marco Cinnirella: Tamron's 6 year warranty is sounding more appealing if you are going for a 70-200 f2.8 than chancing it with a Canon, Sony or Nikon lens and, at most, a 2 year warranty?
"Nikon gives 5 years on US lenses."
Unless they want to void the warranty by claiming impact damage...
Pritzl: Bloody hell! Now that's what I call a bombshell.
Exceptional build quality - check.Unique f1.8 zoom - check.Sub-$1000? You gotta be kidding me.
I was leaning towards their new 17-70 but am having serious second thoughts now.
Same here... the new 17-70 looks nice, but for just a bit more you get constant f/1.8!
Sigma is a very appealing company these days... 80% of my current lenses are Sigmas (95% if you count percentage by cost), and I think this will be the next lens I buy.
Stollen1234: he is a hero..but seriously what has this to do with this forum..

"In what way is our posting this short piece 'clueless?'"

RIP. My pro Sigma lenses are my favourite part of my kit, and Sigma service is second to none.
Wow... Oly or not, I wouldn't want to put my camera through that!
MPA1: The biggest mistake with the SD1 was not making it available in Nikon F and Canon mounts!
+1 -- if Sigma made a Nikon F-mount SLR I would very likely look to it for my next camera. I have a number of F-mount lenses (the best of which are Sigma brand) already, though, and don't want to invest in yet another mount.
