Camera meters read reflected light and are calibrated to read the light reflected off of a neutral gray. Different colors reflect different amounts of light. White reflects much more light and...

I haven't read through other responses so... You have a very nice kit already. I've rented the 12-35 and found it pretty darn good with a little CA (I have an E-M5 that doesn't correct that in...

Camera design necessarily involves making compromises. Sony and Panasonic have made very different choices in trying to produce these cameras. With a fast F1.4 to F2 (what does the LX7 aperture max...

Could they? I don't know but I suspect they could. But in the past Olympus really has not released new features in firmware. They've mostly done fixes. So I doubt they will.

Olympus has certainly suggested that they have a high end camera in the works. No idea if it will be a true successor to the E5 or some pdaf/cdaf hybrid with an m43 lens mount that can effectively...

I'd echo that. I'm using the MMF-3 adaptor and mostly only use the lens in MF. I find AF pretty slow and not always accurate. Optically it's a great lens.

I agree with Merak. The 45 is a very good length for portraits, head and shoulders shots etc. In FF equivalent lenses in the 80 to 105 or so range are considered very good for portraits. I think...

I think images posted on social networking sites like FB reflect current trends. I have tons of friends and friends of friends who post images of their dinner, pics of friends, pics of places they...

Brain misfire. Was thinking of Rolex watches as an example of a high end niche product.

Yep. Shows clipping for in camera jpeg. I'll often set my E-M5 exposure just to the point where I'm getting a little indication of highlight clipping. I know I can recover that in processing the...

Good points. All of the color information can be manipulated very effectively in PP. I too like B & W but have no interest in a monochrome only camera, and I don't think there is a viable market...

The first shot looks like it was taken in harsh mid-day light with quite a bit of atmospheric haze. This kind of light is a problem for any camera. Even the best sensors don't have the dynamic...

I find the sweeping pre-release evaluations of cameras very interesting. Panasonic has chosen to mate a relatively small sensor with a comparatively long but slow aperture lens in a small format...

I think the beaver, goose, and building shots are the strongest. The goose has a very simple background that doesn't distract and the curves of the neck give a very tranquil feel. The building and...

I have both. Very different lenses. I'm not a huge fan of the IQ I get from my 12-50. I've just never warmed up to it. And perhaps I got a less than staller copy? I think the 9-18 is pretty sharp...

I have several disjointed thoughts and I'll start with the qualifier that I have an E-M5 and overall I really like it. First, I'm not sure a weekend gives you time to evaluate this or any camera....

I don't know what an honest capture is? All digital cameras process the images to create a viewable image and thus render images differently depending on how the processing engines set white...
