I thought this shot deserved to do much better. Really good candid photo, IIMRSS.

Experience immeasurably improved by the Richard Franiec grip, it must be said. But I shot a lot with it before getting the grip and (although I have very, very big hands), a bar of soap is not how...

Looks like it was a DPReview problem. Today there was no difficulty (and the inability to upload in the usual way had also gone).

Sure, but even a pre-test on a DSLR isn't going to stop your subject from blinking. He's a dude.

I have finally worked out how to download and install the Lightroom plugin (the missing part of the instruction is to create your own folder with the same name as the Zip file). But when I try to...

Placed 27th in the challenge. The brief was to shoot a cover for a band's album. They had the idea of the pile of instruments in front of their practice room (the album is to be called "The Music Room"). The inset shows the ambient lighting conditions. The main shot was made using 3 x half-CTO gelled pro flash units and reducing the ISO and increading the shutter speed to darken the ambient light right down. (I have since added some ND filters to my kit to assist that process). The result is a shot with much more mellow, sunset-like lighting. Oh, and camera on tripod with mirror up; focussing done manually in live view. EXIF removed by combining the pictures, but available in separate shots in my gallery.
