I have both 1DII & 7D and as far as IQ and "pixels on the subject" the 7D wins hands down but the 1DII has better AF and feels wonderful in the hand ... kills any non-1D camera for sheer feel-good

Can you try audacity? Don't know if you can remove/add the sound. It has a noise reduction filter which lets you choose a section of the recording as an example of "noise"

I agree whole-heartedly with Springbok, on every point!
I've owned a 7D for over three years (and it's still better than the 1D3 I had before). As a birder I like the advantage of a 1.6 crop but am...

Is this scenario plausible? Canon did have a 7D replacement ready (for this Summer) but the Nikon 7100 killed it - being as good as it but $1000 cheaper than the "7DII" planned price?
I still...

Great shots! But with a bridge camera ... amazing, well done!

You'd have to elbow me out of the way .. looks like the perfect camera"ISO Performance to get close to the 5D3" - now that would be something for a 1.6 crop!Jerry

I have searched for this but apologies if this has been addressed before ...I recently saw exif info from a well known bird photographer and noted that he used iso 650 (with a 7D)The photo was very...

I've noticed that too. Not least in myself. Basic psychology I suppose

I think Keith has it right. Canon generally doesn't say it "improves" issues it has never acknowledged existed!
The 7D doesn't have any AF issues, it's perfect ;o)
(in case you can't see I'm...

Thanks Dave. I knew I'd read it somewhere!
This is an interesting link:

where some chap had indeed found that 160 is the "sweet spot" (though...

Agreed. He was asked to do the 100m with a broken leg. Everyone is going to say "Well done" but it really is a case of the Emperor's new clothes. Had he had an dSLR & a couple of zooms he would...

Nice plover shot. Agreed, BIF are a challenge. Well done! You got it just right - nice eye!
I'm interested in your iso settings ... why the iso 160?As I understand in the 7D it's not a "real" iso...

Don't see the joking. I wonder if the MkIII issues would ever have surfaced. Canon repair centres continued to deny it until the MkIV came out! I believed the Canon hype (that it was a rogue plant)...
