I was at my local COSTCO earlier today and the NEX-3N with 16-50PZ lens was $399+tx.
Not bad for an entry APS-C small print camera system!

That is probably where it's coming from (I just Googled it)

The RX100 is a very good compact camera but there are people like me that wouldn't mind sacrificing some of its IQ, of its manual controls and of its compactness to get what a smaller sensor (like...

Wouldn't Focus Tracking do almost the same thing: locking the focus on one specific object, like someone's face? But if the object being tracked disappears from the view than focus could be lost.

Very well done.
I noticed that they all have 0EV. Was that intentionally set or were you on full iAuto?
Reason for asking, with my HX9V I would probably have set EV at -2/3 in this kind of very...

Thanks Rich. I just read it and here are few extracts regarding HX50V's Image Quality:
… The 20 megapixel images were a little soft straight out of the camera at the default sharpen setting and...
-
The HX50V does not produce RAW files so it's mostly aimed at the non-pp-savvy market that expects very good IQ right out of the ($400+) camera with only occasional needs for basic pp.
-
Are you implying that in those not perfect light conditions the HX50V needs to go through post-production process to deliver good Image Quality?
-
I do not own a HX50V (I have the HX9V like you) but went to the Sony Store yesterday to look at he 50V. When closed it is a bit larger than the 9V but much heavier. So I think it is pocketable but...

neither me but Google Translator translates it in the language(s) of our choice.
and an other way to look at it:
an ND filter offers only 2-stops to chose from (filter on or off)
two ND filters...

Not being a pixel-peeper I displayed each picture in full screen on my PC monitor and looked mostly for noise and in my eyes the IQ is very good up to ISO800, good at ISO1600 and still quite...

That's what I see too from those enlargements on my PC monitor but if full pictures were viewed 10 feet away from my 52in TV I doubt there will be any real visible differences between the 3 cameras.

Thanks Photobug 4 for sharing your experience with us.
Regarding the number of f-stops available on the HX50V, a German test site describes it as follow:
Iris (Auto) 3.5 to...

I found the French version of the HX50V User Guide, compared both pages (for movie) and the only differences seems to be related to the HX50V's "Control via Smartphone" and "Transmission to...

BTW this is the HX20/30V guide. Is the HX50V guide the same?

Thanks Henry for your feedback. I watched your outdoor videos shot with the Olympus which has a lens about the same speed as the HX9V lens. Your low light videos generally show more color...

I just read the review.

Oooppss !
I guess you were not talking about the F value but the physical diameter of the lens' glass the light is going through. The smaller the diameter the sharper the image is... as in a good...

That's what I thought first: if you want to sell a camera as having PASM capabilities you better offer a good choice of P, A, S and M !!
Not having A and S Priority modes on my HX9V I never really...

In my OP:
“For those proud owners of a new HX50V, when shooting stills in M mode at wide angle, which different F stops can you chose from?”
p12 first answer:
“i can see many steps from 3,5 to 8,0...
