It'd be nice if you two would stop making up assertions that I didn't make. What I did say was "In the US we pay a small sales tax that is given in full to the government, some of your VAT money is...

I'd like to see that reflex 300 in a CX mount (810mm equivalent)

While I concede the VAT may be included in the price, I do not concede that it can be deducted from the price to make them comparable as I stated in my other post. Unless you can show me that what...

Except that the VAT offsets costs that are built into the price of the goods in the US. In the US we pay a small sales tax that is given in full to the government, some of your VAT money is kept...

Something's not adding up, a D7100 kit here is 1496.95 plus local sales tax, in my case that would be around 7% more?

I'd definitely lean towards the V series for the FT1, I got the J1 thinking the FT1 would be cool, but I'm thinking now that the no viewfinder thing would make any use of the FT1 that I can think...

Doubling the typical warranty and forcing merchants to deal with (and replace if they can't repair pretty quickly) goods "has nothing to do with higher prices"? Really? I believe the main tax...

Yet people complain about why goods are so much more expensive there...

Yeah and that's with no NR in post, I think the camera is set to Normal for High ISO NR. I don't think my D200 would have been that much better.

Image quality overall not significantly behind my D200 that I only got rid of a year ago, in a tiny package. I need to scoop up a 18.5 f1.8 to get the fast AF advantage into much lower light...

I'd argue if you're going for a J, scrape the bottom of the barrel and get a J1 refurb for 200 bucks in kit form. I think it's a great camera, but these things are evolving so quick there's no...

Dumb answer, from the poster who told someone using a Tokina 12-24 DX lens on a full frame camera at 17mm was stupid because it was the same as using a 28mm lens... You might take a look at the...

I'm not sure buying any of the cameras listed is going to lift you to a new excited level of photography. Buying a D600 or D800 might, but I wouldn't splash that kind of cash out on a maybe. ...

Except it's a factory defect that not all cameras have. And shooting white sheets of paper at F22 and then boosting the image 200% to find a "problem" isn't exactly realistic. There ARE and WERE...

Bought it when the kit was on sale for the body price at the beginning of the year. It was also a serial number smack in the middle of the early "bad" units.

Depends entirely on the D600 you get. Mine has no dust issues whatsoever. Also depends a lot on your shooting style, my D7000 sensor gets filthy but even then you only notice it at apertures...

There was a big hub-bub about the 16-35 F4 VR doing the same thing after it came out too.

This thing seems to fail at what Leica is so good at, delivering something with timeless good looks and top notch construction. the slow ass variable aperture lens coupled with the fact that the...
