Steve Hock: Funny .. I didn't look at the political side at all. I just enjoyed the scenes. This man is obviously a master of the 360 technique and his images are remarkable! Even if you don't like the subject matter, give credit where credit is due.

What struck me in the images is how few people are actually in any of the shots. As you scroll around the city scenes you see very few cars, buses or people. All those residential buildings in the city but the streets seem empty.

Where is everybody in that country?

if you see a photostory of north korea without suffering people and you still dont look at it at the political site, youre probably not very well educated to say the least or very ignorant, or an US citizen that probably doesnt know better because of both factors above

chekist: If Soviet Union managed to convince many wstern journalists about good food situation in the middle of the worst regime inflicted femines in Russian history, North Korea can convince this guy.

But some of his comments - such as one about so much food that he saw, which would make it doubtful there is shortage - mark him as either an exceptionally simpleminded, or a paid propagandist.

i think he is simpleminded

if a journalist would have been guided through nazi germany accompanied by a few nice blonde helpful and polite SS soldiers visiting berchtesgaden and nice spots on the countryside. do you think they would make a quick tour to a few concentration camps?

i mean sorry, but how stupid or well paid is this guy that he thinks thats the truth in SC?

and blame dpreview for helping this blended guy publish his propaganda shots

(unknown member): Is this seriously here on DPReview? Propaganda for North Korea? What's next, an interview with the Dear Leader on what he shoots with?

its propaganda to publish a story and phits from a paid propaganda photog

easy as that, to make a leni riefenstahl portrait on how nice and clean nazigermany was is in the exact same league

lancespring: The UN clearly needs to punish China for its blatant destruction of the earth's environment. The Chinese are the world's worst criminals when it comes to promoting Global Warming, which threatens the lives of everyone on our planet.

Yet another clear indication of the corruption and lack of morality that exists within the Communist Party leadership in China.

come on, who can blame china ? the country is bigger and they have more people then the US and still US is on number two

get me some per capita numbers and then start again

why do so many people claim that you only use this apps to retouche bad snapshots??

didnt it come to your mind that a small camera with a reduced photoshop could be used to take good photos and make them better or unique?^^

rdscibilia: One uses a smartphone because there are certain photos you can only get with a smartphone. Anyone who thinks you cannot make a good photograph with an iPhone not only has been asleep the last few years but is likely to remain asleep. The Revolution is here whether you like it or not. It is not whether the iPhone offers the best absolute quality, it is that you choose the right tool for the circumstances. The reality is that the iPhone can do the job more times than you may think. Do not dismiss this tool to quickly.

@rdscibillia: i hink youre right, and iam sick of people trying to defend "serious" photos and "serious" cameras.

and there are a lot of photos you can only take with your phone, its the photos where, if you brought it, you have to take the camera out of your bag, and that alone makes people suspecious.

why is the rest of you so ignorant not seeing that its sometimes not possible to get your cam out of the bag without beeing noticed?

ever saw a policeman hit someones face when on the ground? i have, and i know i would be the second guy on the ground when touching my bag or my cam. if i would have a cellphone at that moment, things would have changed dramaticly for me the policeofficer and the guy on the floor

it doesnt matter which cam, the photographer takes the picture, why dont you get that, i cant understand it hehe

whats the difference between "take control, small but serious and moving on up" ? its three times the same category ^^ 3rd and 5th too..

but i agree with them there is no other way of making 6-categories of kinda the same consumer field.
but its six weeks to christmas, and dpr is owned by you know who :)

and the only class of buyers that dont know what to buy are upgrading consumers ...

Mescalamba: That Kodachrome.. sigh.

Other than that, pretty portraits I would say? Very decent, I think whoever made them knew rather well what they are doing. They have certain "something" indicating that it wasnt just "any photographer". Somehow familiar style, just cant remember where I saw something like that..

Nice discovery anyway.

probably someone took the photos or they where developed after the band left, and no one cared to send the pics
