The sad news is that in some cities and towns, the police are just as crooked as the scofflaws.

Lesson learned the hard way. You have my empathy. Years ago, I had my camera gear pilfered from under my nose while dining in a London restaurant. Distraction and diversion for just a few seconds...

What negative comments have you read about the D4?

Adobe, Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice....

I lament the attrition rate of major contributors to the Nikon forum. The current level of discussion is simply not on par with what it was even a few years ago. C'est la vie.

Good to know. Many thanks.

I used to own the D700 and would have to say its matrix metering was notorious for blown highlights on my copy. The D800's metering is improved IMO.
For any critical work, I typically use an...

After reading some of the responses, the CamRanger may actually work for me.
Robin, thank you for starting this thread.

Purchase it from a reputable camera dealer, and if you experience the dust/oil splatter issue, then either return it or have it serviced at a local Nikon Service Center.

This interview with Adobe officials does not reassure me at all. I will keep my CS6, thank you very much. Adobe has just lost a legion of professional photographers and hobbyists alike.

Correct. The file sizes are huge, necessitating my need to upgrade my workstation. Now my computer runs on core i7, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD. I backup the images to my NAS. PP in CS6 is not a...

Nikon's FX DSLR lineup is essentially set for 2013. Beyond that is wild speculation based on people's desires (e.g. D800S, D600S, D4X, D4S, etc).

I used to shoot with the D700 but now use the D800 almost exclusively.

I am not sure if I share your concern. For most types of photography, the goal of sharpening is to produce a clean image without creating sharpening artifacts when viewed at 100%. If you can do...

Thank you for the comparison shots. Interesting results. This justifies my D800 ownership. ;-)

San Francisco is one of my favorite cities to visit. Photo taken from the Marin Headlands, no? I would have preferred that scene with both majestic towers present. The Golden Gate Bridge makes for...
