Replied in Adam
I'm sure it's a standard size (49mm or whatever) so can be replaced easily, the leaf caps are superb (when they make one for it)
Excellent, that should expose the RAW ability :) ....

Replied in Oh and on the lens cap
Does it look like a JJC Leaf cap could be possible (they ripped off the Ricoh LC1 for the GX100 and applied it for numerous cameras, a brilliant design)

Replied in CameraSize comparison
Colossal difference, bigger diff in fact than the G12 to G1X upsize !!

Replied in Didn't realise you had a NEX 7
he's the only one who has - Stills wise I guess he's using JPGs, Sony JPGs are Grease city with poor NR across the board hence why he's not seeing the almost a stop noise difference and the sharper...

Replied in Can you turn the NR down Greg ?
Can you turn the NR down like in the latest Fujis and all the Pannys . My Objection with ALL Post-G10 canons (and some earlier ones like the Pro1 and G7) is the excessive NR at base ISO and the...

Replied in Mine is FINE and clean
I've never seen the Jelly effect from any NEX camera, the 7 included (though I DO use the 18-200) also the high ISOs are on a par with the best of the 16Mp APS cams when downsized .......... I DO...
-
Replied in Wow ......
Heck of a size increase but worth it given the LCD size and fixed lens ........... No one said we had to bin our old ones when we get the new ones anyway so if smaller is needed (or the older SD14...

Replied in Green corners fixed?
the green corner thing was never a sensor issue, it's an IR block filter issue - it's a cover fillter over the sensor on the DPs & in the lens mount in the SDs instead of being where it should be...
-
Replied in Didn't realise you had a NEX 7
it's Stunning, I only shoot RAW and the combination of a very weak AA and 24Mp means it outresolves the 1DS3, D3X and Sony A900 (I have the 1DS3 for work, have used the others) , high ISOs were a...
-
Replied in Sorry, Adam,
that was Four years ago when the thing was launched and looked worth about £99 (we didn't know how good the lens was back then) when the going rate for a mint boxed SD9 was about that amount - As...

Replied in Didn't realise you had a NEX 7
Yep and Peaking Rocks especially with the hi-mag liveview for focussing and the real time controls

Replied in Depends on the sample
Depends on the sample of the 18-55, some are horrendous, mine after swapping a dud one (came with the 5N kit) is just fine , works well end to end wideopen and is sharp at pixel level . any CA is...

Replied in Needs to be £995
WAY under, £650 is closer - Warehouse Express even had a couple of A77s for £600 - they had been back to Sony for calibration so they classed them as Refurbs

Replied in Needs to be £995
It Needs to be £995 - I'm expecting Nikon to drop the D400 bombshell which is likely to couple the excellent NEX7 sensor with an improved D300 body and then probably closely followed by Canon's 7D...

Replied in Good news then
Good news then, hopefullly the optics aren't compromised as a consequence
Sorry about the 10 second CrappySnap but as you can see the lenses extend quite a lot on the originals...

Replied in They'll Motor out
They'll Motor out, have you seen the length of a DP2 lens switched on ? . unless they're optically compromised Pancakes (hopefully not) they'll whirr and whine and extend like DPs of old

Replied in I realise that, ;-)
for me, the 24Mp of the NEX7 has been a revolution and I'm afraid it's the cropping thing again, I can leave the 16mm on (keeping the camera pocketable) and still get quite a bit of "Reach" due to...

Replied in You get a "Virtual" Zoom
by means of the ability to crop . that's a big thing..

Replied in JPG versus RAW - G1X Versus 550D
lets face it, the JPGs from the 550D (I assume the T3I is a 550D) aren't in the least bit exciting either and are loaded with detail killing NR at all ISOs to be honest, my G10 does better at low...
