as a Nikon DSLR user-- I am very jealous of this lens! I hope Nikon comes out with one -- that AF of course (nikon has some pancake lenses but no AFas far as I know)..
(aside from Nikon I also use Olympus m4/3 and Canon p&S, and Fujufilm underwater cam p&s).. just saying..
no hot shoe?
So i want to have this leica... And reading the comments of the users... Can i just turn off the Af, and not use the video of my DSLR, ..put the dslr on manual mode...
Say my nikon d90 or d40x... Put a 20 or 24 0r 50mm prime...
Will i also, stop and take time to focus on what i am photographing?
Will such exercise give me the same feeling? Hhhmm...
I wonder if the after market battery grips for the d3100 will fit this d3200?
I just hope that next year.. I will find one for less than $600 refurbished :-) in silver color :-) with the 12-50mm kit lens :-)
having the Nikon D90 and Nikon D40x..
I am liking this entry level cam..
if only it had the AF motor.. so I can use smaller older Nikon AF lenses like the 50mm f/1.8D..
if it is $599 body only-- I can have 5 of these than one D800 (body only) :-)
i am waiting if there will be a nikon D5200..or the rumored D600 FX ..or a D400..
it sucks that nikon removed the AF motor on their entry level cams..now i am forced to use the bulkier AFS lenses..
3enson: I wanted to ask dpreview, does this new d3200 has built in focus motor?
so there wont be limitation on other nikon lenses... thanx..
i just wish they never removed that focus motor on entry level cams.. sometimes I just want to use those old AF prime lenses (no built in motors) they are smaller and more compact-- like that 50mm, the 20mm .. :-(
plasnu: Better dynamic range than 5d3?
personally it doesn't matter to me who made the sensor-- sony or nikon or canon.. as long as it is a great sensor..
jp1958: This would be the inexpensive wedding camera. People will buy 3-4 of these and have a lens on each one and shoot with flash.
i thought about that... hhhmm.. a good inexpensive wedding camera.. no one needs fast FPS-- weddings are not really action oriented (most of the time) and usually entry level cameras are not that sluggish with AF or shutter lag..for a wedding..IMHO..
I thought that maybe I would want this :-)
i wonder if the existing non-OEM battery grips for the D3100 found on ebay will fit this cam? they seem to use the same battery..
Timbukto: It has wireless flash capability? Something the D5100 doesn't even have??
i thought the built in flash of this d3200 has a master commander mode :-).. if yes that would have been awesome.. and a built in AF screw-- .. I would definitely want this! :-)
if only my Nikon D90-- can do 1080p/30/24fps + 720p/120/60/30/24fps-- it will be a "perfect cam for me :-)
larrytusaz: I would like it if the red-dot movie button could be re-mapped. I don't use movie-mode on SLRs & it would be handy to be able to remap it to ISO or white balance etc, just as you can with the Fn button.
I'm not going on a "SLRs shouldn't have movie modes" rant, it's been almost 4 years & whether I like it or not it's here, and I realize the target market absolutely wants it. Still, the Fn button can be re-mapped, on a model like this that has so few "hot buttons" it would be nice if the red-dot could be as well. (Obviously it would be mapped to movie-mode out-of-box by default.) Other "semi-serious" models like the Olympus E-PL1 I also own allow for this, as do the newer versions of m4/3rds.
And yes--why not Wi-Fi built-in? (One person said "different standards in different countries"--but then how did Samsung figure it out?) Why not have the Wi-Fi unit, or another one like it, that works with not-so-ancient models like the D5100 and D7000 etc?
that red dot movie button-- if a novice by accident-- re mapped it.. then they say their Nikon is broken.. Nikon is trash etc etc...
Timbukto: It has wireless flash capability? Something the D5100 doesn't even have??
I must have missed that part about it having wireless capability.. Like nikon CLS system? Please point it to me or to us in the specs or press release... Thanks..
4k... For how many minutes?
Zvonimir Tosic: Why not GF4? They've had GF3, now GF5. Is the 4 unlucky number?
Panasonic also issued GX1. All basically same, little cameras. Or they are not that same?
What Panasonc actually tries to do with their lineup, if there's such thing at all? Or they've simply decided to stop worrying about actual sense of their offer and plague the market, every month, with anything they can think of.
But nikon is brave :-) they have the nikon D4 :-)
Hugo808: Just had a go on one in a local shop, very nice in all respects except the autofocus is way too slow. Bit silly of Fuji not to have that rather important aspect sorted out as it renders it pointless for what I'd buy it for (weddings) so I'll stick to my SLRs, shame as it's a lovely toy with obviously good IQ.
to gonfig..
nowadays, a decently fast enough AF lock is needed for those candid wedding photos.. unlike back in the manual days of shooting , it was more documenting the wedding day.. everything is mostly posed..
the style of wedding photography nowadays have changed...
The question that comes to mind from an ignorant person about astrophotography.. Can one use this as a regular camera?
i wonder if nikon can make one lens like that? at least equiv. 30mm (after the 1.5 lens factor) so a 20mm pancake? :-) hmmm yum :-)
Digital Suicide: My next digital will be mirrorless. But not yet. These cameras still needs to be improved technically and in price, so I'm tend to wait a little.
I think the olympus OM-D EM5 is your best bet or a panasonic GH2...
bshy: it's a pretty camera
I will wait for IQ and review as well as price drop
Comparing to Sony nex-7 & Fuji pro 1 will be amazing
yep, me too I am hoping in a year or 18 months it will go down to $500..body only..maybe :-)
