If only this D5200 had that AF motor so that I can use my old AF nikon Lenses..
and a CLS/built in flash as commander for other nikon flashes..

it would be perfect..

In a way I just want my Nikon D90--smaller, like this D5200, with a flipping LCD and 24MP :-)

oselimg: I know the headline says "for Canon DSLR's" but I'll have to ask. Is the software compatible with G15 if it isn't why not? since G15 is a very capable camera as compacts go.

or for my G12 and SX50 as well :-)

@highwave--yep I wish it had a viewfinder.. remove the mode dial-- or just put the flash in front ;-) no pop up ..maybe.. just a compromise..

johnparas11zenfoliodotcom: if this had a direct red video record button.. then I will really want it.. (aside from better jpeg output).. so maybe the X30 next year.. so i guess I iwll just enjoy my Canon G12 still.. no need to "upgrade" yet ;-)

note: the G12 does not have the direct red video button as well.. and g15 ..meh.. I am tired of the design of the G series.. so time to look somewhere else ;-)

..of course owning a camera.. the aesthetic look, the handling, and other variables count.. and yes no perfect camera .. always compromises in what we want.. :-)

yep.. maybe a firmware update..
although th ewishing for a direct video button is just for convenience.. for example.. when in dark school hall/gym.. for school performances.. I just want to press the video right away instead of fumbling for the dial.. and no I do not want to bring a separate video cam :-)

That is what you get. Much closer to my phonecam than anything. Doa.

OMG LOL.. point and shoot versus DSLR?

One of the questions could have been.. Are you whiny and you like complaining a lot? If yes do not take this survey :-). Or another question.. You do not want to have a free ipad for taking our silly and badly written survey? If yes do not take the survey. :-)

ssh33: A step in the right direction if you ask me. I like that the lens is finally NOT interchangable. I always have my DSLR if I want to play with glass, let's keep compacts compact.

Nikon, if you are going to keep the prime, make it at least 35mm (eqiv). 28mm is neither long enough for a portrait nor wide enough for a landscape.
I have no use for 28mm field of view, so I'm not going to buy this camera at any price.

Put a brighter lens on it, make it a 20-50mm zoom, some form of PDAF in addition to CDAF and I'd buy it at $800.

make that $500 :-).. okay maybe $599 :-) and I will buy it as well.. plus the EVF of course :-) commander on board flash, and make the body more retro looking not some generic and bland black brick..

Osvaldo Cristo: It looks the camera a lot of posters are looking for according their critics for the previous models I read exactly here, in the front page of dpreview:

DX sensor, macro capabilities, reasonable WA, fast lens, crazy high ISO, raw capabilities,... oh surprise: I found again lots of complains!!!

Where is the crowd that asked that??

the body looks boring.. if they designed it retro...then at least it will be interesting to look at and use.. it looks like the P330.. looks generic..

just the looks of the camera alone is already a no for me.. why is nikon so conservative with designs?
