this article would have SOOOOO much more punch if you had paired it with Sigma 30mm f1.4.
BUT that wouldn't please Canon.
but what was nice about the original design that you would want to copy ??
Are you just too lazy ?
or the subcontractor offered the mould to save cost....
xfoto: "It appears that the EOS M2 won't be sold in either the European or US markets."
Oh what a huge blow
this happens when the maker is not confident enough about the changes etc, nothing against the rest of the world. They wanted more market feedback and trouble shooting opportunities.Relax, there are many other cameras out there.
OMGlook at the past winners ! ! !
Very good review.
Made me re-think about my initial euphoria.
1) shutter too loud for my street/wedding photography
2) lack of bright lens native to its mount.
3) "I still don't quite understand constraining themselves with such a small mount that designing bright lenses might be difficult, just for the sake of maintaining compatibility with NEX lenses, but I can't argue with the results so far. "
sounds like 35mm f1.4 and the likes will not be coming anytime soon.
tallguy600: Sold my D600, never even considered the D610. Got a Canon 6D with 24-105L lens instead and will not look back.
yesJust move on.No point arguing with these big companies.Just vote with your wallet.
AlanG: Would anyone be complaining if this PDAF feature was functional on the camera from day one but the camera cost $500 more? Consider that some owners only shoot with manual focus and will save money by not paying for this upgrade.
Are any of you complainers owners of this camera?
BTW I have had a number of cameras and lenses repaired by Canon and the price has always been very reasonable. A couple of lenses were recently damaged in falls, had dented parts and would not focus. I was very surprised how inexpensive those repairs were considering the damage.
yes I agreeCanon After sales is tops.NOTHING comes close both in terms of fees and turnaround time
yesand the AF speed will be only suitable for static objects.
DamenS: I love Nikon - but they are still one of the most stupid companies in existence ... how could they screw the pooch this badly ?
it WOULD work if its priced around D610.wouldn't you say?
thx1138: Here is a hypothetical interview with Nikon:
Q: I see this camera uses a 16MP sensor, from the D4, so this must be a flagship sensor too.A: No actually the sensors of the D610 and D800 are much better according to DxOQ: Ah but this low res must allow this camera to shoot very fast, 10fps or better.A: No, actually it shoots at 5.5fps slower than our D610Q: Hmm, but it must have class leading shutter speed, 1/16000A: No, actually it same as our entry level cameras at 1/4000Q: Ummm, err, oh yeah, well it must have the flagship AF system rightA: No, actually it has same AF as D5300 and D610, middle of the roadQ: Ah, but it must have old school battery life and run forever out in the wildsA: No, actually it has a very small battery with below average number of shotsQ: Well it must be very cheap then, cheaper than D610?A: No, actually it is much dearer.Q: Ok, then what is the point of this camera?A: To get old farts to part with a lot of money to relive old time memories.
love your sense of HUMOURyOU ARE spot on with your criticism though.
this camera would be the greatest threatto the likes of Leica camera, which emphasize on MANUAL feel of the gears and buttors.
Easycass: You just got to love all the comments that are negative, pessimistic, scathing, derogatory and downright miserable... I believe it is in the interests of every photographic company to be open to the idea of providing a choice of user interface, regardless of the level of technology inside. We do not need to like all the choices we are given, but why not embrace the fact we are at least given the chance to choose...
yes i agreeJUST more choices.Maybe for some, maybe for othersDefinitely NOT for everyone.

WHATS the smallest F stop it can LIVE view AF?
Henry M. Hertz: i don´t care much about trans-x but PN has a great engine.
im a LR user since v2 and never really touched another raw engine for a longer period then needed for testing. i never saw much difference that made it worth using another raw converter.
but PN is used for some jobs because the quality is better then LR on some images. the demosaicing can pull details that are not visible in LR on some images.
so when doing big prints i usally use PN to get the optimum details for my landscape images.
PN is slow... but some images are worth it.
thanks Henry.good to hear from users perspective.
if i am shooting Large JPG,would i be able to transfer only small jpg for social mediaon the wifi ?
that would be useful, since social media don't needlarge files
i thought the shiny paper clips did throw up some artifacts in some camera. It would be good to have them , maybe near the centre.Seems a lot of space there.
i have a question. When you use the 4 circles are near the center, it seems like D800 out resolve Phase One IQ180cause the center is much smaller.
( but actually its the reverse ) so how do you use those circles ?There are no numbers in those circles.
are you able with a quick glancetell from this Corporate releasehow this camera is different from its siblings ???
What art of communication is this...
