I do have a lensmate 58mm adapter, no issues, easy to get off, easy to put on.  I had heard the Canon was a very flimsy piece of plastic.  But they both do the job.

You know what happens when you but a magnifying glass on an ant?  Substitue the magnifying glass with a lens, and the ant for a sensor.  But you'll get the same result.

Buy a used G1X, that's us what I did. I believe it costed me around $450.
