The raws over at IR actually look worse than the previous version. Worse chroma noise. Not sure what's up with that, but I hope it's a software, not a hardware issue.

What's the chances of getting 40mp output from this sensor? Also, are the pixels all split the same direction? How big of a deal is it if they are? Does AF sensor resolution make up for a lack of cross type sensors?

Pikme: Why do you keep talking about the Olympus XZ-2 but never post a review for it?

...maybe they realize is doesn't need a review to show how awesome it is.

Or maybe they realize that we don't need their review to know it's awesome, while cameras like the MX-1 need help.

Confirmed: after the update I can now use 1/25th in 24p video, and it exposes as expected. Before it would expose looking more like 1/60th.

micahmedia: What a garbage "me too" product. Why remove one of the most desirable features of the Fuji mirror-less cams. I hope this model tanks as a lesson to the entire industry, which causes everyone else to jump on the integrated EVF bandwagon.

...but that ain't likely to happen. Because most people haven't had the experience of using an eye level finder to know how awesome it is.

What's wrong with it? Nothing...Fuji has every right to make a boring "me too" camera. I'm frustrated that they've caved to the actual trend of NOT including a viewfinder, which is one of the things that had distinguished their line. Now they offer the same garbage everyone else does. There isn't an integrated EVF trend, though I wish their was.

The people complaining about a lack of EVF are complaining about a lack of choice. Most manufacturers weren't doing what Fuji was in including it in every model. Instead of Fuji inspiring anyone else, their concession to the mainstream is disappointing. There ISN'T an "EVF bandwagon". Quite the opposite. There are just users like me who wish somebody made the product we wanted without compromise.

In the case of Fuji they have slow AF and a crappy sensor. This isn't a place I will accept compromise.

People will buy this on price, despite the lacking feature. Not because of it.

This “me too” camera is not bringing anything new ,keeps Fuji styling (which is surely nice), but again is dead on arrival. Plus develop a small camera with big lens is NO NO as Panasonic and later Sony could do the pancake. Sorry Fuji, poor try!

...it makes me want a R-D1 even more.

It's bringing slow focusing lenses that only do manual by wire with a sensor that is only good for jpegs with comparable ergonomics and sacrificed an excellent EVF for a modest reduction in size.

Agreed. And the Pentax Q puts out a file format that many versions of Photoshop can open natively.

Good job.

On Adobe releases subscription-only Photoshop CC article (398 comments in total)

Unlike other markets--video games, operating systems, microprocessors--Adobe software has long been unrivaled in it's market. Apparently, they didn't like the distinction of having a monopoly on a much beloved software.

They obviously decided to do what they think is best for us and have thrown themselves off a cliff.

Reg Natarajan: An honest question for those of you upset with this: why not just use another product? There are plenty of imaging editors out there that will read your Photoshop files. Some of them are free and open source. Some are free and web based, although those tend not to be as powerful.

As I see it, Photoshop, like any premium product, has the right to charge what it likes, how it likes. The consumer has the right to accept or reject their value proposition. I accept it, myself, and actually prefer it, but you all have choices. Why not just choose instead of going on about how awful it all is?

To the OP I say: why don't you just drive on the other side of the road or change your dominant hand?

There are things that are possible to do, that are still not easy or wise to do. Adobe is banking on this difficulty. It's coercive. And so far, it seems the market is not responding well.

After many, many years only to be forced, because of Adobe's greed, to move to a different software.
I guess I will look at it as an exciting new adventure with a NEW software package.

A much faster lens and camera with electronic viewfinder for half the price.

I'm waiting for the Fuji X-Pro2, with all new Bayer sensor.

What does this design mean for sensor longevity? Would this stand up to heat cycling for video use?

Adobe stock still hasn't recovered from their CC announcement. But they haven't taken enough of a hit to care. Without taking a big hit, it may take them until the fall, when they're still hovering at $43/share to backpedal.

But keep the pressure on. They gotta see reason sometime, right?

marike6: Many seem to be missing the fact that Leica has no intention of releasing an awesome, less expensive MILC in M-mount. They are going to protect their M series at all costs, so to expect them to cannibalize their lineup with a APS-C M Mount MILC is simply wishful thinking.

So you are going to get a lot of X1 or X Vario type of offerings along with a whole bunch of D-Lux rebranded Panasonic cameras.

This camera is not something I would buy but I don't get all the venomous comments and comparisons to the $7000 Hasselblad Lunar by people who have no intention of buying ANY Leica at all no matter what.

Do people think it makes them cool to diss this camera? Or do people think blasting this camera in comments is payback for some perceived pricing slight or a stand against all luxury items?

Leica is not trying to impress DPR users. If they were, they would have made an APS-C M-mount ILC for $999 a long time ago.

Because...Leica hates selling cameras? They can keep their prices and offer useful features, and people will buy more of them. There's nothing to lose.
