Thanks a lot. Question is, how come these 3 lenses cost less than the zoom lens? Are they in the same category? The 85mm 1.4 costs about the same as the 24-70 so is the 85mm 1.8 in the same league...

more to consider. Instead of the 24-70 i could opt for 2 primes one on the tele range (the 85mm) and one towards the wide range (28 or 35mm) Anyone knows how do these lenses compare image quality...

Very nice pictures Robert! Of what i've read the 70-200 VR2 is a stellar lens. I do full body shots though (and almost no portraits) though.
