Time for the rest of the competitors to create something robust and new. Companies like Apple, Phase One, DXO, etc. certainly have the knowledge to create beautiful and powerful RAW converters...

Dear all what started as a casual hobby for me has evolved more and more into passion and science. The more i get involved with photography, the more the amount of reading material grows. I just...

That is why i am also keeping my current camera; i would hate turning into a fanboy. I have absolutely no problem jumping between brands and since i am going towards the paid work route, i made a...

Not at all rotten :)
I am hoping i will turn this into more than just a hobby. I already have had a few requests to do some paid jobs so i think this will work well.
Its not at all, about giving...

Well it's finalized. I gave the deposit for the D800E, a Nikkor 24-70mm and a SB-700 flashgun.
Couldnt be happier (wife does not share the enthusiasm) :):)

Thanks a lot. Question is, how come these 3 lenses cost less than the zoom lens?
Are they in the same category? The 85mm 1.4 costs about the same as the 24-70 so is the 85mm 1.8 in the same league...

more to consider. Instead of the 24-70 i could opt for 2 primes one on the tele range (the 85mm) and one towards the wide range (28 or 35mm)
Anyone knows how do these lenses compare image quality...

In the same boat. Considering either a new "server grade" Mac Mini with one SSD and one SATA HD combo, or the new 27" iMac. Only concern is if the Mac Mini will perform well with Aperture and...

Fair enough. I would like to ideally process images that are plesant to look by an online audience; also i am aware that 99% of the people visiting my online gallery haven't got a calibrated...
