On Nikon publishes Nikkor lens 80th anniversary video article (33 comments in total)

I'm glad I started with Nikon. Nikkor glass is second to none. Even the "cheaper" lower end stuff are really really good. And anyway, no matter what you hold on your hands to take a shot. If you have no sense of composition, light, colour, creativity etc, you're just some idiot pretending to be a "photographer" with a "big camera" with "big specs". You may impress the common people, but if you're crap you take crap shots. Then you log on to dpreview and crap on other equipment that you're not using. I say ALL makes and models have their strengths and I respect each in their own right. But Nikkor is my personal preference.

This camera might cause a few marriage break ups for those not already on full frame. You get this, then you find that you need to get all full frame lens. In any case, it has been said that the most important piece of gear you carry with you is the 6 inches behind the camera - your head. Thanks for the review. Wonder when the D7100 is coming out.

Amazing. Nice one, Panasonic. Hope the IQ lives up to it's specs.

MPLIEW: So the 5D Mark III studio comparison scene was taken in "self timer + mirror lock up" mode, and the 5D Mark II, Nikon D800, Alpha DSLR-A900, D4 etc just "self timer" and not in "mirror lock up" mode? Are we really comparing the same thing or are we "cheating" a little? Maybe a non-issue, and if so, then I have to admit the 5D Mk III samples are very good.

Nah, I don't buy it... Comparisons must be exactly the same. Why have mirror lockup mode then. Naththo, you're wrong.

I have to say, I like it a lot from what I read of the review. A little compact powerhouse.

novthx: Having owned both nikon D7000 and a canon 7D and EOS 60D have used these cameras for the last few yrs. I can say in terms of tech and vid nikon is behind the game, and the live view sucks when viewing outdoors. Canon on the other hand shines in these areas. also nikon has no firmware hacks to further better video or picture taking. LIKE ML FOR CANON also there is an adapter to use almost any lens on a canon look up using nikon lens on a canon. Yet there is no word of using a canon lens on a nikon. Nikon makes great glass but as for pretty much everything else nikon is pretty much behind the game, even if they up one against canon, canon ups one more TWICE as good

A canon glass on a Nikon body is an oxymoron. Thanks for the laugh. Do agree that Nikon video is not the best, but I would get a proper video camera then. Geez, why can't people just appreciate each brand's strengths?
