Commented on Wedding photographer explains the reasons behind 'unrealistic' prices news story
Very good point on the Part time. As in any profession - there is competition. I shoot because I love it, but do it part time because I make a lot more in my "Real" job. I take a lot longer in...

Commented on Wedding photographer explains the reasons behind 'unrealistic' prices news story
OK, let's talk about a "fair" minimum. $1000: 40 hrs post processing at a minimum X $25 Hr (I took 1500 total shots at the last weddding I shot - post processing down to the ...

Commented on Nikon D4 overview article
Unless your eyes are really bad- use the diopter to change the viwewfinder to match your eye prescription - I find it works very well, and others do not borrow my camera because it always looks...

this camera is not for posting to social media - use your phone for that. Your comment unfortunately exposes your lack of understanding of the purposes of this type of camera.

Well put - I agree - Low light indoor sports is my main venue, and events that do not allow flash. The faster focus, higher ISO and increased presets interest me most. 1-2 additional FPS will not...

Commented on Nikon D4 overview article
I have a D3s and will probably rent a D4 to check the performance difference in low light. Do not buy until you know there is improvement.

Commented on Nikon D4 overview article
I have a D3s, and shoot in low light. It will take some convincing to make me believe this is better. Echoing some of the comments - the 2 different card types and lower battery life are definite...

Replied in An Apology is Due
I went back and forth with Nikon support for several months on the issues with the D3s. I am waiting to see the results since I sent the camera and lens back to Nikon.
I am not bashing Nikon -...

Replied in An Apology is Due
I would not purchase a 3rd - especially given the problems encountered. For almost 40 years I have been a staunch Nikon supporter and used many. Now I am seriously considering Canon for the first...

Replied in Try
Post a video of your problems to utube. Let others know the issues - at least you can help someone else not make your mistake and choose the same camera.

Replied in Nikon D3s
You are definitely not alone. See my other thread of issues. In my case - 28-300 lens, the only option is to pull the battery and reset the camera.

Replied in Nikon D3s
--I would suggest waiting at this time. I have encountered too many issues to fuly recommend this camera. I will post nikon's repair in my other post, once I receive my camera back. I used to be...

Created thread D3s Multiple Issues - Makes serious use dubious.
Problem 1: Recurring - never solved: About 8 out of 200 pictures at my
indoor event came out so dark - they are unsalvagable - even with Capture NX2. Sometimes it is several in a row. There were...

Replied in Send them back to Nikon
I have had long and semi fruitless discussions with nikon - Only threat of Utube got a response. I will let all know result of camera return to Nikon in next few weeks. My problems were 4 fold....

Replied in Not focus but . . .
My black images were intermittent - But using Capture NX2 showed a faint image - as though it severely raised the shutter speed or lowered the F/Stop for a single or several pictures (maybe in...

Replied in Focus Priority is buggy - on my D3s, and the D700 I sold
I think my prior post was deleted - I have 4 specific issues.
1] AF intermittent failure
2] Intermittent picture severe underexposure - as though D3s uses extremely fast shutter or high F/stop...

Replied in Focus Priority is buggy - on my D3s, and the D700 I sold
low light is not an issue. I have had same issue at very good lighting outdoors. So far - it is an intermittent issue - so it is difficult to replicate to determine cause. Using 28-300 VR nokon...

Replied in Focus Priority is buggy - on my D3s, and the D700 I sold
Yes - only "cure" is to Turn D3s off and pull battery. AF will return with power. Focus priority not necessary for problem to occur.
