On Scientists demonstrate 'paint-on' batteries article (108 comments in total)

Bottom line: If it falls short in performance AND causes us to throw away the product after the battery stops holding a chatge anymore, then it's a dud of an idea!

On NHK working on 8k video sensor capable of 120fps article (94 comments in total)
In reply to:

wb2trf: But to get a decent OVF the mirror will have to move 120 times per second. That'll be hard. :-)

Why would you assume a conventional mirror design would still be used for that speed?

On Simulated ISO 102,400 photos article (3 comments in total)

Another USELESS article. You don't own the 1DX, but you are simulating the high ISO using what? a 30D and software, like Photoshop's RAW engine? This is absolutely ridiculous, as the new sensor's light-gathering capabilities cannot be "simulated" by another, less sensitive sensor. Get a life or a real job, you are not a real engineer or product reviewer.

Why is this junk posted on DPReview? I'm gradually losing interest in this site due to how far away from real reviews they have strayed!

On How to make a cover girl article (3 comments in total)

WORST Video EVER - No sound and no clarity. Totally useless. Why does DPReview allow such a waste-of-time article to be published here? It should be pulled!

On Jessica A. in the High Contrast Portraits challenge (6 comments in total)

The area under the eyes has been butchered in Photoshop. Way overdone.

On The 15 Minute Makeover: Photoshop Beauty Retouching article (169 comments in total)

Thanks for sharing this.

I found a discrepancy though. In the 1st paragraph under STAGE 1, you say: "The trick here will be to choose the Sample All Layers option while using the Clone Stamp Tool and the Current and Below option for the Spot Healing Brush."

But, in the 4th picture under that paragraph, the Photoshop modes you highlight are the opposite of that!

Which one is correct?

mrtaufik: I use NEX-5 for months and have use it for almost all situation: landscape, nightscape, citiscape, streets, human interest, model and action. Never complain about focus speed using its native lens. Wondering people here who judge the AF speed just by watching video :(

to quote the reviewer Mr. Taufik: Wondering Beoble (as pronounced by the reviewer) here who write comments who really don't know how to speak properly!

IMHO, this is the worst flash placement!

On leisurely in the Sloth challenge (1 comment in total)

This looks like anything BUT leisurely!! The man's skull is resting on the edge of a trash can, which indicates that he could not have been "resting" in that very uncomfortable position, but that this is a posed photo. For me honesty in representing or classifying a photo influences the viewer. Remember, this is my opinion. It's ok if yours varies from mine.

Having said that, I do like the colors in the photo.

I see how you planned each layer so that it does not have issues with the others. Congratulations on a job well done.

On Waterfall in the Interpretation: Image Manipulation challenge (3 comments in total)

How could this have been elevated to 1st place?

Just bending the water surface does not make the direction of the surface waves (in the "waterfall") realistic! Gravity was ignored. Also if you zoom in to the lower third area of the sails, you'll see that there is a line going through a shift in the image?

If you're going to edit a photo, at least try to make it as convincing as possible.
Just my humble opinion.
