On CP+ 2015: Canon shows off prototype 120MP CMOS sensor article (255 comments in total)

Diffraction should be a real issue with such small pixels.

Wm Leddon Studios: I photograph Architectural Interiors & Exteriors, Fine Art Landscapes, and Environmental Portraits. I own a Canon 5D11 that does only an acceptable job for what I do. I passed on the 5D111 and will be passing on the new 5DS & 5DS R they do not address my needs.

There was an article posted by Nic Granleese's Blog headlined with the question is the Canon DDS R architectural photographers have been waiting for? Well not for me. I always find myself in precarious positions in order to get the prospective I want. One never photographs landscape or portrait compositions from a full standing position. Almost on every shoot I'm on, the camera is in a position where I can't see the LCD screen. The defiance to incorporate a fully articulating rear LCD screen on any professional camera is irresponsible.

Would love to see this camera mirrorless, converters made available for prime major brand lenses, a no AA filter option, w. Sony-Like dynamic range & low light performance AT MINIMUM.

"why not just buy a sony A7r then!?'"
Because they are crippled ? And a serious photographer don't want to deal with color posterization ?

jimrpdx: DPR streak is safe, you simply cannot wrote a Pentax note without a barb. It's insulting to the brand and to readers. No Canon articles about the M-series features not implemented in later announcements, no Olympus reports that note how you cannot tell them apart from six feet away. Pentax put LEDs on one camera that could flash in specific instances, and could be turned off.. yet the stigma will outlive the current writers and no doubt will come up again in 2045. Absurdity reigns.

Jimrpdx :
Yo are absolutely right, this is how you are making a brand's reputation, with constant taunt & deconsideration.

panpen: Only a week ago I got a Full frame Sony A7 from B&H for $1298 minus $255 rebate, for a total of $1033. I'd rather have FF sensor than IBIS

Great, you have a camera than can't make proper raw files...
What's the point to have such good sensor if it's crippled by Sony's very strange decision :

Pentax should announce for CP+ the same tech, but with a different process.
The 36pmxl futur FF will have it, and all futur bodies.

"...In most photo-magazines and photo-sites the E-M10 already beat the A6000 overall..."
You should consider to stop using drugs.
(i'm not a Sony user, but saying than the 16MPxl EM1 sensor beat the A6000 24mlxl aps-c exmor, please...

Mariusz lmrl: Unfortunately — years too late… :(

Only way to distinguish on the mature market is to add really valuable unique features.

I’d like to see other sensor’s formats than boring 3:2 very much — 4:3 or especially „human natural” 5:4… Or, even better, to implement multiratio sensor on FF image circle! From 3:2, through 4:3, 5:4 to 1:1 FF physical format!

And there is ready slogan for _E_V_E_R_Y_ FF format more „square” than 3:2 — „Bigger than FF!” (3:2) (even if not much).

Na seriously, the A7 weather sealing doesn't look very sophisticated..

Roger Ciiccala from Lens Rental says some words about it :

disasterpiece: Now if they catch up with their full frame lenses lineup...

Most of their DA primes (APs-c) are already FF compatible.

But yeah, they lack of zoom, they've annouced from 70 to 450, but what about standard range ?

As a bonus, it looks compact, with a huge pentaprism and will obviously have SR in body. This is great.

It does look like the 67 with AE prism!

I hope foe S.R. too, but why obviously ?

Sony have crippled their Ax bodies with a stupid lossy raw compression... well done Sony !
http://blog.mingthein.com/2015/01/19/review-sony-a7-mark-ii

Ming thein :
"I am still not happy with the crippling 11+7 bit raw compression: you can still run into posterization fairly easily in highlights and shadows, especially if adjusting color balance under mixed lighting. Watch carefully for clipping, too – it doesn’t roll off nicely in the highlights like the D810. ISO for ISO, lens for lens, the D750 delivers a better quality file – with about 1-1.5 additional stops of usable (i.e. clean, manipulable in postprocessing without artifacts) dynamic range"

http://diglloyd.com/blog/2014/20140212_2-SonyA7-RawDigger-posterization.html

Having such good sensor in a camera with can't handle all color informations because of file compression, this is great, this is sony.

Ergo607: This is typical: one camera who is almost one year old gets a major update with significant improvement and a lot of news features and three camera's that are end of life get a firmware update too (name one manufacturer that has done the same in the past!) and all people do is moan...

Pentax, with diffraction correction added to the K3.
