Replied in 5d2 & TS-E 45 - first time tilt shift user thoughts
russ,
thanks very much for the link, and the tip. I had a look through your site - these images are truly exceptional, and i'm not even really a landscape style photographer, but can really...

Replied in Tilt shift first time thoughts - 5d2 & TS-E 45
Hi John. Cheers for the comment & example - better than most of the photoshop effects that i've seen. I don't think that the graduation in the bokeh from the in focus to not in focus is as smooth...

Replied in Tilt shift first time thoughts - 5d2 & TS-E 45
Badbatz - no worries :-) everyone can have their own opinion anyway.
re the lens baby, i'm happier with the ts-e, but i'm sure plenty of people could make do with it.

Hi Kent, if you're talking about the boat in pic 1 - as I mentioned about, the tilt axis was vertical (ie north) and at max setting. If you're talking about the boat in pic 3, the tilt axis was at...

Replied in Tilt shift first time thoughts - 5d2 & TS-E 45
Peter - I think Badbatz covered it in his reply. The learning curve is pretty quick - just an hour of shooting and reviewing images and you'll get the hang of how it works. First shot was simply...

Replied in 5d2 & TS-E 45 - first time tilt shift user thoughts
cheers vvv. I havn't quite seen anyone who has been able properly replicate TS via photoshop, but i've seen plenty of not so good examples. I'm more about getting it right in camera and spending as...

Just picked up a 2nd hand TS-E 45 last week. First crack at seeing what it could do both with some portrait and landscape work today. Not the easiest thing...

Replied in 50 1.4
Hi Diasfrom. I don't disagree with you at all. I also love my 50mm 1.4 too.
And it is very sharp at 2.2. What aperture is your example shot at? If 1.4 then that is an impressive copy for sure....

Replied in IQ 50mm 1.4 vs. 35mm 1.4
critical piece of info. As I mentioned above, the 35L will cut it wide open, the 50mm 1.4 (unless you happen to have an exceedingly sharp copy) likely will not. Unless of course you are not fussed...

Replied in IQ 50mm 1.4 vs. 35mm 1.4
If you don't have a preference for focal lengths - which to me is a big part of it, as the feel of the two lengths are quite different - then it depends on what aperture you're using to shoot with....

Replied in What quality compact do you own?
Fuji X100. I was in the same position as you. 5d2 and enough lenses. Sick of carrying it all around. IQ was my main criteria, and wanted a small camera that I would not wish I had dragged my large...

Replied in X100 does Berlin...in B&W
thanks guys. The Twister guys were pretty funny, a group of Spaniards at an outdoor dance party. My personal faves from the bunch are #1, #4 and #10. I had to leave #10 in colour to do the harley...

Replied in Berlin with the X100 - street
thanks for the comments PGR. Normally I'm an engineer, but with shooting I usually use a 5d2 - and most of the time it is people stuff (I did weddings for a while, but am taking a break). I would...
