ThePhilips: Love the comments bashing the bashers.

It's basically "You don't know 'cause you don't own it and you can't afford it!!" (Somewhat reminiscent of the comments about Leicas.)

But. When discussing the m43 gear it is: "I don't have it, I don't want it, I haven't even tried it, but it is still *beep*!"

Wonder about the overlap between the two groups of the commenters. Should bookmark the lot for the next m43 camera review.

P.S. Another nice piece of gear coming from Sony. Though if I were to buy anything Sony right now, it would have been the RX100 hands down: RX1 is way too large for my tastes (or rather: lens protrudes too much) while still having no EVF. Also IMO with such excellent sensor, they could have went with a darker lens.

worldclass ? Really ? ;)

pixel_colorado: Almost $3000...how about something a little less "carry-able" and a lot less expensive?!?

So being FF justifies everything ?

FF is supposed to means more IQ, better Iso...
It's not the case anymore.

What does this means when you seen how an APSC sensor can behave, which is extremely impressive, like on a Fuji EX-1...which is a LOT cheaper and has interchangeable lenses ant not much bigger ? your FF means nothing.

Talk about more DOF ? Come on...this is a 35mm F2 lens...and why would you care about DOF with such a point and shoot even being FF ?

smatty: The Sony RX1 scores 79% in this review and is therefore is on par with the X-Pro 1's score of 79%

And while the comparison in this review is currently against the Fuji X100 with its 2 years old conventional sensor, the X100s with the version 2 of the X-Pro1 X-Trans sensor should surpass the RX1 at a fraction of the cost.

I am looking forward to this head to head comparison - and while I love FF sensor cameras for the great DOF control, in almost all other aspects of IQ the APS-C sensor have caught up.

Great times for serious compact cameras :)

Funny...I would just say the opposit !
Smaller is not better... ;)

Michel Pont: I have absolutely no faith in Sony's compacts durability...
I got too much disappointment with them regarding this.

Except that Leica M9 issue is replaced for FREE even your warranty is out...
I doupt you can fix your RX-1 in 4-5 years if you have an issue...

How is this 35mm OVF comparing to others Zeiss ZM's OVF ? Is it as bright, detailed and clear ?

the reason: you have to be a special brand of stupid to pay this much for that

I agree with the reason.
Ok it's FF, good image, good iso, small and sturdy but so what...
What does this camera makes better than let's say and EX-1 ?
FF is no more a requirement for good image quality and good isos...

Van Jessops: I am very confused about "silver" and "gold" rewards. Canon 5d mark III got 82% and "gold". Canon 6D got a higher score - 83% and only "silver". The heck, where's the logic here?? Unless silver is more valuable then gold:)

Something that people don't understand is that there is different camera categories.

The ranking should be compared with camera from the same category.

If a Camera from entry level category is ranked 99%...that does not mean it is better than professional level camera which is ranked 75%.

Got it ? ;)

On First Impressions: Metabones Speed Booster article (357 comments in total)

As I have 2 M3 bodies...and cannot finance a digital FullFrame M so that system is quite interesting for me if they make a Leica M version. That would mean I can use my Leica M Optics on a small APSC mirrorless during the moments I just want to do family and friend snapshots etc or when I need really high iso performance.

That would be awsome to get an almost true 35mm F1.4.....@F1 lens on an APSC body !

>>>EDIT.

After some thinking...I just guess it is not possible to put M lenses on a metabone adapter...because Leica lenses have to be really near from the sensor. I think this kind of kill my idea of using my SMALL M lenses on a SMALL Mirrorless.

Sad...

smatty: Still no minimum shutter speed setting in Auto ISO!

Fuji, why haven't you been listening to the hundreds of requests from X-Pro 1 (and recently XE-1) users for the past year?

And even dpreview has pointed out the lack of this feature...

I got a phonecall from Fuji and they told me this feature will be available for Fuji X Pro 2 !

kidding..
