You have tried all focus peaking types?
Good summary. But I don't do video.

Uprated material, better QC. I don't think it costs the earth. But the margins on the entry level models would be tight and they have to make better profits on some models.
Yes and no. I...

Thanks John
So many styles, so many images, so many host cameras ... all good. The Jupiter-8 lens has something going for it. Given that the I-69 is "all right" but needs some mucking about with...

Perfect solution:
Put the adapter under your hat, have an associate remove the adapter when your back is turned, return to the scene and stomp on the hat for a while. Or belt it with something...

Best keep a lens open mind. More interesting, some surprises - even good ones.

I always used to think the quote was Rolls Royce sourced but someone corrected me to say it was in fact "a Packard?" marketing slogan. So I have been unsure since. Perhaps the quote was pirated...
-
As long as their sources are reliable.

I have to explain myself - I am talking about the extra sales value of the FF and higher end aps-c dslr bodies compared to the similarly constructed entry level dslr bodies. The entry level bodies...

Well said. But there is nothing there that makes me feel I need an EF-M desperately and I guess that is why the price is what it is.
Canon made a mistake with what I thought was a very excellent...

I agree also the only factor that casts some doubt is hubris and resistance to change. If they can cope with that Canon is forever. But I haven't bought anything significant form Canon for quite...

Not an expert myself but I read somewhere that Tomioka made lenses for just about everybody including Ricoh and very few with their own brand name on them. Many industries besides the camera...

I think you have made good comment on all your points. I might add that probably a quite high percentage of Canon buyers never move up from their entry level purchase of a "proper camera". They are...

Excellently put Godfrey. You covered the subject well.

One might say that the price being asked is the measure of the camera. By rights it should be at remaindered warehouse clearance prices. That it is not just shows that it can still command a lot...

I have the CV15, 40 and a whole scad of just about every Russian lens in LTM mount format (oddballs as Godfrey and I like to call them ;) ) but some of the Russian ones are all right even if care...

Sit an original GRD, a GR and a GXR behind one another. Consider that a 3" lcd is "complusory" these days. The GR has already had size creep and except for the top plate has nearly reached GXR...

Carl,
I respect your opinion, I just didn't think you were serious to be promoting a type of camera that was probably the least popular of all Ricoh's digital cameras - it only reached two models...
-
I think this has always been my attraction to Ricoh cameras, they provide the tools and encourage you to learn. Most other cameras simply try and make the process "easy".
-
Was it Packard? "The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten".
Just as long as we are not "ripped off" ;)

Thanks for the detailed and readable comparison.
I am up to my ears in Canon EF lenses but I have not bought a new dslr body for quite a while. The EF-M did not even register a blip on my radar....
