Honestly I'd use the 50mm 2.8. It's a great lens at a bargain price. I use it about 20 times for every one time I use the 50mm 1.4. Remember what ever you chose that you can turn around and...

They are great lenses and I have both but use them very differently. The Sigma 50mm 2.8 is my most used lens for landscape with my A900. It's nice and sharp and can be closed way down for long...

None of the above... I found that zooming past 135mm things tended to get soft and that I was just as good taking a shot at 135mm and cropping it. So I use a Tamron 24-135mm zoom for my walk...

I owned both the Sigma 50mm 1.4 and the Sony version. The Sigma is sharp wide open and the Sony wasn't. The Sony wasn't even close. I sold the Sony and couldn't be happier.

I used my a700 in clubs for years with out any problems and never used a ISO above 800, mostly it was set to 400. I used a 24-70 f2.8 lens and the HVL-F58AM Flash. Always shoot RAW.

Typically to do work like this I use a fast lens F2.8 or prime. I use manual mode setting the f stop to about 5.6 so if several people are in the shot all the faces are likely to be in focus. I...

Hans,
This is a problem I've had with some people but found it wasn't so much an issue with the light from the flash as it was related to the sound of the shutter & mirror. I was taking photos of...

Maybe it good image quality compared to the old one. I think the old one was junk. I had the old Sony 50mm F1.4 and it was very soft wide open compared to the sigma. So I sold it and kept the...

I wish you luck. I bought the Metz when it first came out and used it with my A700. I found my results were inconsistent Some times it would overexpose other times it would underexpose. I...

Will,I think you need to change the USB mode in the camera so it doesn't mount as a drive. I haven't done this in a long time with my A900 so I might be wrong but it's a place to start.Lincoln

I have the Zeiss 135/f1.8 and it is an Amazing lens. You will in no way be disappointed. The extra wide aperture and sharp focus at infinity make it useful for low light situations. I've used...

This weekend was the first time for me using the A77 in the studio. I have used my A900 & A700 countless times. I ran in to a few problems with the A77 in part because I had updated the...

I suggest you wait a little longer and get the Tamron 90. In the long run you'll get what you want sooner and spend less money. I think you'll only be disappointed with a half way solution.

I found it to be soft when I zoomed past 135mm wide open. But as a walk around lens I would constantly zoom to 250mm and regret it later. The image quality was the same as taking the shot at...

I have a Sigma 20mm f1.8 that I love for landscape work with the A900. I don't think it's in production anymore but you might find a used one.

The HVL-F20AM is really intended for the A900 and A99 that don't have built in flashes. I wouldn't recommend it for any other use.
-
I think your over thinking this. I use continuous bracketing mode all the time on my A900. I either press the shutter button down until the camera stops or i use a wired remote and do the same...

I've got mixed feelings about this change. On one hand I see the advantage of being compatible with everyone else. On the other I've got a few thousand invested in the current flash system and...

Am I missing something? It seems the A99 has no cRaw format. I use that file format for everything. Is that the trade off for 14 bit Raw? Why not have it as an option? I fill up Terabytes...
