I did that too. The c5050 blurred its OVF when it was powered off, so I thought it was normal. I am now suspecting its not /:

Oh, and another thing. Is the viewfinder supposed to be blurry when the X20 is off?

Yeah, the battery is the right way in, plus I've tried both the barrel switch and the preview button. Neither work /:

Is it me, or is the x20 a true 12 megapixel camera. Instead of the 12/6 megapixel EXR x10?The x20 doesn't have EXR tricks, yet still produces a similar DR at 12 mp instead of just 6 mp.Interesting.
