... Nokia is coming out with the 808 zoom so i do not know what you are talking about. They are going to crush this in pure performance and image quality.

Durandalfr: LOL, people spit on the nokia 808 for having a small bump on the back and not being as flat as GS3, how people cannot put such a big phone into their pocket and blahblahblah. Now you have an hybrid phone/camera with an ugly degigne and miraculously, maybe because it's samsung's, pocket can now contain that king of design. People are brainless.

Canadiancoolpix, welcome to the world of photographers hehehe.

grahamdyke: This is genuinly gona kill the compact camera market for the likes of Canon, Nikon, and Panasonic cos they don't make phones, Sony may be ok if they can get it in gear!

I would have bought one if it came out 3 months ago, but just jumped on the TZ40. I had to replace my broken TZ7 and my current Samsung Galaxy Ace Mk1 could really do with a refresh. Would have been perfect...

The odds are higher that sony goes down than canon or nikon to be honest.

lightleak: I really hope it has the Samsung trade mark: the famous pink tinted center area aka pink spot problem. I really hope it does, beause if not people might still have the illusion Samsung actually has a customer friendly service.

Ive got a green spot problem funny enough with my s2 and big banding issues, my nex phone wont be a samsung that is for sure. My old non "smart" phone did not have any issues.

Yes mccool69 because we would much rather edit the image on a screen that we can barely see whats going on due to its size. Thas why i use an galaxy s2 for editing my 16 megapixel om-d photos (being sarcastic as well)

MirosIav: The future of P&S cameras. Soon there'll be response from Sony and Nokia... I'd like to see a waterproof model though, even at the expense of the zoom range.

Nokia is already making a far superior 808 zoom. Coming out soon enough

wansai: Lol @ all u ppl apouting marketing jargon to describe this.

the review is already out and the IQ is poor. about same level as a mid range smartphone. optically also poor showing corner smudges so severe it encroaches nearly to the center of the frame where it can only de described as decent.

the nokia 808 which is 2-3 times less bulky still outclasses this monstrosity. if you are remotely interested enough in photography to buy this you are far better off just getting an S4, htc one, 928 or iphone5. better optics, better IQ, signifigantly smaller profile.

Because an 808 zoom is on its way that will crush this garbage.

Johnsonj: The future looks bright. I hope Apple improves upon this idea.

No worries nokia is already making one, apple and samsung cant compete with it because apparently they know nothing about phone cameras compared to nokia which is ironic as samsung makes cameras.

iudex: A sensor larger than standard p&s, RAW, PASM modes and 20x zoom seems to be a tempting combination and probably the best travel zoom on the market.

It is the best out there so far, i have tried the canon one and it laggs behind and the hx50? Ugh not gona touch that camera with a ten foot pole, it sits at the bottom of travel super zooms on my list.

lensberg: Fuji point & shoot camera's are no good... larger than average sensor, "EXR" etc... they still can't deliver on image quality...

Stick with Canon or Panasonic if quality matters...

Actually this one blows its canon counterpart out of the water, dont be a stupid fanboy, i say this as a canon dslr user who has tried both the canon model 280 and this model.

So far as someone who used to use Canon until last year (had a Canon since 2007 when i started photographing), I see more reason each month to go get a Nikon instead, however I am currently using an OM-D so I am quite happy. But if I were to go back to DSLR I would pick up a nikon despite it not being something im used to.

Joe Ogiba: The Samsung version would be larger since they have larger displays and much higher worldwide sales numbers.

Hey joe they could make More models if they wanted to. It is not our fault they only make a single model, so we must compare the companys entire sales of phones no matter how many models they have, is it any different from comparing someone who sells 20 and someone that sells 40? You compare the business model, not how many models they make.

In reply to:

rocklobster: This camera gives M4/3 fans another option where the Olympus E-PL5 may turn off some buyers with the lack of built-in flash and smaller effective screen size. However, my experience with the E-PM1 and the clip on flash is a very minor compromise and I just carry the flash around in my pocket if I may need it.

A big step forward from the GF5 especially with the 16Mp sensor.

P.S. When will Olympus step up and produce a pancake power zoom - may be even smaller than the Panasonic as it does not need OIS on Oly cameras.

Cheers

Sadly after owning the e-m5 and the gx1 i would still take an e-pl5 as olympus is far far ahead in the focusing and low light department. Panasonic need to get back in the game.

Rage Joe: I'd say there are many people who really don't need any other camera besides this, even some enthusiast might be well served with this one :)!! It all just depends if you want a lot of bokeh and RAW and other s...t like that. What do you say?

:rJ

I say you are way off if we talk about the 808 but if this one has got optical zoom of like 28-100 thn you may be on to something, however it will not be a giant number of people buying it because windows is a tiny part of the market right now plus im sure this phone will be very expensive. And unlike people in the us, in my country you can only buy phones without a contract and they are unlocked so we pay for example over one thousand dollars for an iphone or a galaxy s4, same as the 808 cost us.
