I've had this happen too with my NEX-7. I'm not certain that mine made it even seven minutes.
I don't have any tips aside from "use a different camera."

Check again to see if the Sigma 17-50 actually has stabilization for the Sony A-mount. According to the B&H page for that lens , it does not.

Excellent points.
I'm using Jim Buchanan's PalmGrip on my NEX-7. On the grip that I have - I think he may have changed the design somewhat since I got mine - I see that there's a vertical hole in...

Nice!
I've been thinking about doing something similar using the flash shoe to hold a cable release bracket in place.

I can't explain that degree of cropping. My NEX-7 produces JPEG images that are 6000x4000 whereas the raw file size is 6024x4024.
With regard to the raw files seeming blurry, keep in mind that no...

Yes! AF performance using the LA-EA2 is significantly better than the NEX-7's AF performance using native E-mount lenses.

I have a NEX-7, LA-EA2, and the Sigma 50-500 lens. I can report that they all work well together, including image stabilization and auto-focus.
-
I have that combo. Autofocus works great.

I have mixed feelings about UWA. I have the SEL1018. Image quality is great. I thought it would allow me to see more in my landscape shots because of the greater FOV. It does, but what I didn't...

Do PocketWizards even work with NEX? (My impression was that they did not.)
I recently ordered a Phottix Odin transmitter and some receivers; I've heard that the Sony version works well with the...

Nice photos! I bike and hike in various parts of McDowell Mountain Park frequently.
I took a look at your blog. I especially liked the photo of the grate on top of the mine shaft.

Looking them up, I see:

and:

These both look like adapters...

I've just purchased the HVL-F20AM and an HVL-43AM for use with my NEX-7. I've found that the HVL-F20AM can indeed be used to trigger the off-camera HVL-43AM, but I've also found that the NEX-7's...

I have both lenses which I use with my NEX-7. I haven't noticed much of a difference in AF speed between the two. That said, I don't take many photos where AF speed is critical.
-
On the NEX-7 (and other NEX models too I would guess), you do need to hold the shutter release button down when in BULB mode in order to keep the shutter open. However, when triggering with a...

I've tried the Sony 70-200 lens (SAL70200G) with the LA-EA2 on my NEX-7. It works well, so long as you can use fast enough shutter speeds (or use a tripod) to make up for the lack of OSS. It...

I try to post JPEG files that are scaled so that they won't be scaled again by the site or the browser. One site to which I post displays landscape images which are 980 pixels wide. It will scale...

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tagged_Image_File_Format .
JPEG uses lossy compression to make the file smaller. When saving to TIFF, it's often the case that your image data is stored without...

I don't go to airshows, but I purchased the Sigma 50-500 for other purposes last fall. I use it with my NEX-7 and the LA-EA2 adapter. Two of my test shots upon receiving the lens were of aircraft...

It's there at other apertures too, but may not be as noticeable.
Using a blower on the sensor is easy to do and is worth a try, but is often ineffective. Often times, in my experience anyway,...
