Hotplate, yes, Total Image Converter supports NEF files. My mother-in-law shoots in raw too, though I have never seen her editing those raw photos;)

There are lots of reviews of photo editing monsters, but I bet many photographers use other programs too. Total Image Converter is one of these small and simple tools. It converts RAW files of almost any camera to TIFF, JPEG, BMP or other image file types in bathes (several folders in one go).

My 6-year old son took a look at VTech KidiZoom and told me it is for toddlers only:) They grow too fast, don't they. So his choice is Sony Cyber-shot.
