Hi all,
sorry for the late response. I was on travel in spain these 2 last weeks. I have to thank you for your help to identify this bird which is confirmed to be a ruff.
I'll go on posting (good)...

Hello
the issue to identify them as common redshank, a typical white bar on the wing is missing; see this picture of the same group taken by a...
-
I don't think so, this shot has been made last week, it should not be in winter plumage. And the legs are red/orange.

Thank for your help. I don't think it is a sandpiper, I was thinking of a Common Redshanks but apparently it is not the case, according to an expert who does not want to tell me was bird it is.

Nice shots for a manual focus lens which is that heavy. Is it the lens I owned before ?

Hello chris,
speaking about the FA*600, it is really a very fine lens. Sharpness is not that great wide open, may be it is better wide open with a Canon super tele, but anyway the depth of field is...

Thanks Leopold,
the IQ of the FA*400 is good, at F8 it is as good as the DA*300 but at F5.6 the DA*300 is far better - remember that from F5.6 to F8 the IQ of the FA*400 improves, the IQ of the...

Thanks ron, the FA*400 is going well indeed. Not as sharp as the FA*600, though, buf AF is fast and you can't definitively catch a bird in flight with the 600. I have still to get some practice go...

Thanks for your comment; yes it is a cattle egret indeed, in french "héron garde-boeuf". There is a colony near the Tarn river in south of France. Their color is this one during the breeding...

Pictures look better than expected... anyway at this price point I'll stick to my FA*600F4. It can't be used handheld, though.

Some of my shots last weekend... lot of herons, since they are back from migration. Used lenses FA*600 (some with 1,4 TC) and FA*400. Enjoy

Honestly, I don't understand why you are waiting for the last up to date camera. You can get now a K5 at very attractive prices, you'll have 16 Mpix instead of 6 and a sensor with far better...

You are wellcome, I have detected moiré on the second shot on some feather bottom right; here is the 100 % crop
And also some traces of false colors on the wing of the the tit here
Honestly if I...

No replies ?
In fact after several hundreds of bird shots like above I haven't seen moiré that really affect my pictures...
The main issue with the K5iis is the price tag. In europe K5ii prices are...
