It's a different camera....i order a D600 mostly for hiking (760 g vs 1074 g) to put with a fixe lens.It's probably the best image for the price and weight without starting a new...

For me...it's a very good combination. Smaller than the D800 (and my D3S) for hiking....great ! The D800....36mp is to much.......24mp is just right....great! But a bit slow at 5.5 fps....not so...
