hmmm, interesting.. meaning that there is not much value using the dx crop mode then ????i assume, you can still shoot in large, medium or small sizes in Nikon ?thanks

oil/dust issue may have somthing to do with it I guess ...price has not changed much in aussieland though .. maybe after xmas perhaps ? hmmmmmxxxx

Thanks for the tip on 60mm f/2.8D or G version. I would have a look at it. The fast aperture could actually assist since the ISO of D600 is not very high for night video but distortion free sounds...

Thanks for your reply. Well, to be honest, I think I have been using more of 70-200 4L IS so I do not notice much on the 50mm 1.8 II lens. If that is the case, I really have nothing to worry about...
