I thought this idea was already being developed through crowdfunding. Maybe its the same individuals. If not there could be one helluva legal battle coming up.
Excellent review guys. Thank you. As for the little survey done on the predicted outcome. The average came out at 84% so a pretty close finish.
Guess you have an extra STM lens (55-250mm) to test with the 70D now Mr Butler. :-)

What do you think the final rating from dp review will be for the Canon 70D ?
For the record, my guess is 87%.
I do not know any of the staff or reviewers of this website so do not expect to be as close as some of you out there. Closing date for entries soon. Good luck.
Thanks to all taking part so far. Any more wanting to have a guess?
fotonix: Really watching this one. I still have my 30D, closing on 20,000 pics. I hope the shutter on the 70D is the same silent type as on the 60D. A friend of mine has one and its so nice not click-clunk click-clunk all the time.PS - pricing in New Zealand is expected $1700 and up body only, kits from $2200 or so. We drool seeing $1100 and €1100 prices online. Grey imports will be less and a way to go as importing on your own is expen$$$ive with Customs.
I would hope we could do slightly better on prices here in NZ. Being registered for GST might help but then i will have to go into business as a member of the "papparazi" Not as young as i used to be. :-)

Many camera reviewers comment that missing a headphone socket on cameras is a minus. I ask is it something really needed? In today's world we have many quality solid state audio recorders (Sony PCM D50 comes to mind) that could be attached to the camera. This unit would allow headphones and has line output which when adjusted with a little electronic circuit could also feed direct audio to the camera without distortion. While appreciating DP review is essentially a site for photograhers now that video is established around the world maybe it is time to look and review other accessories which is now so much more a part of the photographic world.
Looks a pretty good camera for the beginners to SLR photography. New digic 5 processor, new lenses as part of the kitset. new autofocus capabilities for shooting video, what more does one need. All I could want now is a matching Canon brand audio recorder matching all qualities of audio from the CD standard upwards so I could have decent audio with my mini movies. (I know that there are plenty of other brand models out there) It was just a thought. I have put off buying a new camera for quite a while now. The 650D might just cause me to move a little quicker to buy now it has been released. Look forward to DPs full review.
I hope the Judge is not born in April. He/She comes across as an April Fool with such a ruling. The time is certainly different and its not even the same bus going by the route number. I wonder if he or she will support my copyright claim for taking a picture of Big Bens clockface. I did take it many years ago so any royalties from duplicate images will certainly pay my rent for a few years
