Look at it this way. SL-1 has adequate features and is small enough to be an alternative for people who are interested in OM-D/EM-5. But not D-3200.
-
1000D/XS is smaller in features, not size.
-
By just being a tad small, the attention SL1/100D gets is enormous. It is amazing how a simple concept can do. Even this Nikon guy, Thom Hogan, challenges Nikon to downsize D3200. I guess OM-D/EM-5...

It is not the question of whether 18MP is good enough but that Canon is lagging behind Nikon in the sensor department. A few years ago, Nikon was citing similar argument when Canon was ahead. :)

If the leak specification of EOS-B and T5i are true, Rebel line stays at 18MP again. What a letdown.

Jimmy,Very nice write-up. For my shooting I do prefer D600 over 6D. I almost gave myself a $2K Christmas present (D600 kit) but stopped short of doing it because of the murky "dirty" sensor...

Does it matter that lens is the difference? One can't shoot without a lens.

Maybe it could be from upgrades by the vast Rebel user base, I guess.I was disappointed by 60D's lacking of vertical electronic level and was seriously tempted by D7000, but eventually decided to...

I would not rule it out. It looks like we may know it in two weeks.
-
No, I am not confused. Canon might have tweaked the sensor a little bit over time but the basic design is the same. So the performance characteristic stays pretty much the same. And I would not be...

Thanks to all, especially to JNR. I decided to keep the A lens and give the M lens to a friend of mine.
-
Let's see. Three generations of 18mp sensor in the Rebel line (T2i, T3i and T4i). I would not be surprised if Canon comes up with the same size sensor in 60D's replacement.

I have a couple of old Pentax manual lenses, a Pentax-M 50mm/F1.4 and a Pentax-A 50mm/F1.7, and thinking of just keeping one of them. In your opinion which one would you keep? and why? Thanks.

Shooting in the Av mode gives one total control too, and faster in my opinion. In most situations one doesn't need to have a specific aperture and shutter speed at the same time.
-
You seem to have a lot of confidence on a rumored camera. However, I agree with you that the lens should be the deciding factor.
-
But perspective will be different, won't it?

60D's initial price was $1099, which was $100 less than better spec'ed D7000. Nikon prices D7100 the same as D7000. I predict 70D coming at $1099, knowing Canon.

There is no IQ difference from the in-camera 1.3x crop mode or capure a FF and then crop it in PP if you shoot RAW. It is a different story if you shoot jpeg. Nikon already has the firmware code in...
