Right now I want to keep my RAW conversion options open and for Nikon users the free supplied NX software does a pretty good job and the free (when I bought my D300) CNX, for me, is easy to use.

Consider buying into the Arca Swiss plate system. There are many more suppliers of plates.

Well, I've decided to buy the Rokinon DX version at $229 with free shipping from B and H. Will use in DX mode on my D800e and with the adaptor on the X-E1. Lets hope the assumption of a 180 fish...

I have Nikon gear anyway and a Photodiox adapter for Nikon lenses to Fuji mount.
At the moment this lens costs a bit less than the X mount version and in addition I would rather just buy one...

Personally, I would not own the 18mm f2. I have read many reports that the 18-55 f2.8 to f4 zoom is as good as the 18mm except of course it does not go to f2 and the zoom is larger.
The route I...

Agree 100%.
In fact the other shots are nice too but pale in comparison to the first. Delete the rest from this thread(good though they are).

Sold half my Nikon gear (Trinity Zooms) several weeks ago. (ahead of all the price drops) Kept my D800e and primes though.
I really do think that Fujifilm are hitting the sweet spot with the X...

IMHO manual focus is where the X-E1 is not that good. (I am coming from a D800e with a bright view finder and a magnifier view finder lens fitted). I use the zoom magnifier on the X-E1 but still...

I also like very much your eye for the shot but I also think it is all a bit to much high key (slightly over exposed) as the poster above said. I am using a color managed profiled monitor here.

Really nice work and so much for the expensive new lens theory (which I will admit I've fallen prey to).
Some of those older lenses really perform.
I love my AIs 50mm f1.2 on my D800.

Thanks for posting this and your pics in the other thread. I'm going to get this lens anyway but wonder how it will behave extended with a Lee filter holder hanging off the end.
Any views on...

Personally I would have been much happier with a maximum 150 mm f4 focal length but I guess Fuji do not at this point want to many overlapping zooms.
I still am getting this lens. Its funny how...

That lens with the parts difficulty is the long discontinued AF-S version. The even older AF Zoom-Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8D ED is still on the availability list.

I really like the tone of the first shot but the composition is to full of dead space.
Here is a crop which imo adds more impact to your photo
I probably think this is what you first saw in your...
