Peter, I also was not happy with the OMD's IQ and returned mine. No more M43 for me.
If the images don't make you happy, return it. If they do, keep it. Your opinion is the only one that matters in...

I'm sorry, you're probably a really good guy... but the phrase "crafting pictures" is just funny. It sounds so painfully pretentious, even if you didn't mean to sound that way.
-
My experience with "pro reviews" is that you really have to judge by your own eyes and not trust any reviews. I recently bought a much lauded camera and did not like the IQ at all, despite rave...
-
X20 is nice, but much smaller sensor delivers noisier, poorer IQ images. Had Fuji engineered the X20 with a 1" style sensor like the RX100, it might've been really remarkable. Plus RX100 is also...

It still sucks, and is likely to be a discontinued line of cameras if the SL1 does well. Would much rather have a NEX or good M43.
-
Does it have to be a Canon?
Unless you're stuck on that particular brand (and there is no reason to be, Canon is nothing special), there are many, many better choices out there than the horrible...

The RX100 is an amazing camera. What do you suspect, realistically, Sony will add/fix for the next model in the series? For now, let's call it the "RX110."
My bets:
Touch Screen - seems a logical...

I never owned the Pany 20, so I can't directly address this thread.
But I did, for about a week, have both the Oly 17 f1.8 and f2.8. After many comparisons, I wasn't at all impressed by the 1.8. It...

Careful. What kind of macro shots do you want to take?
Keep in mind the SEL 30mm (45mm equiv) Macro is not a very good lens optically (just read reviews) and the focal length is useless for insects...

I LOVED the 15-85 when I had my Canon 60D.
Highly recommended.

Yes, that Warm setting was off. That was one of the first things I did when I got the OMD. So I promise you that's not the cause here.
OMD AF is very fast, no doubt. So I believe it could perform...
-
I wish I was getting such results. That's what made me buy the OMD.
-
Yes, second photo is OMD kit lens 12-50, I mistyped "12-60."
Well, I compare kit lenses because it's what I have and use most. But I did not see that much better results with my Oly 60mm Macro when...
-
Those look OK, and I'm glad the OMD serves you well.
I wanted to love the OMD, but its images just consistently disappointed me compared to my NEX.
-
No, it's the OMD's 12-50 kit lens. I mistyped "60."
-
Maybe a better comparison view:
Top: NEX F3, 18-55, 200 ISO, f5.6, 1/200, 55mm.Bottom: OMD, 12-60, 200 ISO, f5.9, 1/320, 42mm.
-
I only have 2 NEX lenses: SEL 18-55 (good sharp copy) and SEL 16mm.
For MFT, I have: Oly 12-50, Oly 17mm f2.8, and Oly 60mm Macro (LOVE this lens, and will miss it).
I did not do super scientific...
-
With legacy non-Sony lenses I don't think that's possible.
BTW, I feel your pain about macro lenses. I am deeply frustrated that no good, tele SEL macro yet exists or is even rumored for NEX yet....
-
I have to disagree.
I bought an OMD and several lenses a few weeks ago because of the rebate, and have been comparing it to my NEX. Yes, the OMD is a nice piece of kit, and yes the MFT lens...

In some ways the F3 is actually better than the 3N.
$369 is a truly great deal for this camera. I have one with a sharp 18-55 copy, and it produces extraordinary images.
