KGP: Lets face it... mirrorless size/weight advantage applies only when prime lenses combined with these bodies. There is no way to skip the law of physic & optics... the larger the sensor the biggest the optical elements, the fastest the aperture the heavier the glass. So simple. This lens is a nice addition to Fuji's line up, im pretty sure its gonna kick ass !
Pentax DA* 50-135/2.8. weather sealed, opticaly great at 650g.
TechOutsider: Nice! A competitor to Sony's 30mm f/2.8 macro lens! Fortunately the Nikon has the slightly longer focal length - a 30mm macro is all but a joke ;).
http://photo.net/columns/mjohnston/pentax-35mm-lens/optical-discussion/ theres also the excellent Pentax Da 35mm Limited Macro. it offers a better build, less buld and requires a 49mm filters but for a bigger price (~500 $)
newpotty: I'm just getting intro astrophotography. Canon has been the DSLR of choice for years. But from all reports (such as on DP Review) the new Nikons (D7000, D5100) have superior low-light low-noise sensors than Canon. Since this Pentax has the same sensor, wouldn't it also be a prime candidate for astrophotography (the astro tracing function not withstanding)?
it wouldactually, since it has bigger DR at ISO 80, it may be even better
