Isn't retro just a design look? You mention small buttons, but that's going to be the case on all micro4/3rds cameras retro or not. I think the retro look is sweet and it sells well. It doesn't...

I'm not sure if this applies because I came from the E-1 and E-330 to an E-3, but the most striking difference for me was the AF. It was so much faster both to change AF points and to lock on...

That's only worthwhile if you are doing it for fun or to become better at manual focus. I've been shooting soccer with my E-3 and Tamron SP 300mm f2.8 recently--just to get good at manual focus....
