Jan2009: I'm sure no one broke the rules but it did say after the evening meal... yet I seem to see daylight... oh well maybe its an early dinner :-)
my bad, it did say before the evening meal... sorry.

I thought this was a great shot. Actually its one of my top votes. But its unfortunate that only few voters got registered, mainly 4 votes per entry
Thank you for this article, I am also a big fan of natural looking HDR, I could not stand surreal HDR. I would have like more details and example of reading the histogram.
In your car example, how did you know to use more over exposed shot vs. just the 0, +2 and -2 EV?
photo nuts: Very nicely done
Thank you very much. it was worth all the cold bits while waiting on the car:) Oh the things we do for our hobby ...
just love challenges the expands my vocabulary :) thanks!
tasad: "Where I have been last night" ... and no restrictions about "capture date rules" ?
Will you increase the submission limit? 50 will fill up fast if there is no capture date rule. The title is likewise misleading, I like the title but it kinda defeats the purpose of "last night" ;)
Thank you guys :)
So are members without aquarium at home automatically disqualified? My dentist have an aquarium can i go there and take picture of his saltwater aquarium?
chrisby: Dear hosts, I assume you require only the style of Americana and the American Way, but the photo could be taken anywhere in the world; is that true?
Very good question. I do hope that this is possible since the site is international.
I like this image.. sorry you got some bad votes.. :(
This was funny as heck :) thanks for making my day...
Rajamurthy: There is more anxiety and fear in the eyes than the claim of the title.
Werli thanks for taking time to explain the extra story behind the image. Congratulations again.
RumpelHund: My personal favourite. Great shot!
Thank you RumpelHund! I am glad you like this image.
This is a beautiful shot, sorry if there were low votes!
Jezsik, congratulations on this good challenge, lots of great entries!
great image and perception
TomServoCA: Interesting observations.
I have to say though, I guess you never travel with your wife. If I spent the evenings in the hotel room hunched over a computer I'd be a bachelor again so fast it would make your head spin. Evening is time for a nice leisurely dinner, some drinks and then bed.
I can't shoot 500 images a day, unless I'm shooting a hockey tournament. When travel I still like to listen to the stories of my subjects and just sit and groove and becoming part of the scene and *then* take the picture. I'd rather have a handful of shots that were thought out with a story than one of everything, even if I miss something that *everyone* is shooting.
I'll take the hit and edit at home post trip. I keep a diary and notebook and do take a GPS tagged shot with the cellphone so I can localize so going back isn't all that hard.
But the title says "Editing on the road".
I think the point of "reviewing the days images" helps to see if your images on a certain lens and body combination works well or needs to be focus/calibrated well.
I travel with my family most of the time and on a good shooting day, if I average 500-700 per day then I am contented. And yes it is a burden to review them but I always think that most likely we wont be back in this place so I take the shot anyway.
Also to agree with your point, it is difficult to balance the family and the photography during travel. Most of the time I just focus on one at a time. Meaning if its with the family, I lay down the camera and go for snapshots, then I reserve the time for photography during sunsets or sunrise if I wasn't too tired the night before.
Great Article. One concern though is the laptop HD, maybe it is not a bad idea to save on two external hard drive instead of just one in the Laptop HD, as this may tend to slow down the laptop when editing.
Absolute mancave!! :) i can stay here for weeks :)
