Macro pictures over the years has been about close up's of flowers, or anything that caught my eye. I started my Canon SLR journey with a Canon F-1n, and later the Canon A-1 in early 1980's. That was a fun camera even though is was more automatic then the match needle F-1n, you could still do everything in manual too. Back then it was a hobby after work that eventually allowed me to sell 8x10 and 11x14 prints. My wife & I love the same things in graphic media reproduction. For home use she loves graphic arts and scanning in old photo's. Restoring those old black and white prints, etc. She's very creative. Both our home computers have the latest copy of Corel PaintShop Pro X5 for our photo editing. It's fast and easy to use and does more then we need at this time. In 2007 I had to upgrade my film camera and so bought a Canon XSi. Besides the kit lens, I also bought the Canon 100mm Macro lens as I was being commissioned by my boss to sell off over 40 pounds of old silver coins that we're willed to this non-profit organization we both work for. My first 17 years here was helping to fill orders in their mail order business. I started here 3 days after high school in 1973 I'm still here. Now I'm the old man. LOL. Anyway I know people want their packages ASAP. So if they paid before 12:00 noon, I got them ready to be shipped out that same day. Otherwise it always got shipped next business day. I shot macro coin pictures in the morning using the Adorama copy stand with special daylight lights, and posting eBay auctions in the afternoon. In my over 5 months of selling, I had over 1,800 auctions and I still ended up still with 100% perfect feedback. In saying all that, I got a lot of repeat customers because my coin photo's we're super sharp and buyers could make better judgements of the quality of these coins. Anything bad or good shows up with this lens. There is no hiding any of the details. Seems like most coin auction pictures we're fuzzy. Not sure if it was just their cheap point and shoot or was with intent they we're hiding details. I don't know, but i wanted to show off my macro work too. I have also written a booklet that is really just my own personal journal of ideas what worked best in taking pictures of copper coins, verses silver coins in using different background materials that helped to enhanced images. This e-bay selling is all done now. I have not sold anything on my eBay for over a year now. So my love for photography really just personal fun, or pictures of my friends their families, close-ups of children in their natural play state, as well as anything that grabs my attention at the time. I recently bought the new update to the older Canon 100mm Macro. This is the new L-series version of the Canon 100mm Macro. It's much faster to focus and crisper in clarity. Worth the extra money. Wish it was available when i bought the first one that came out. It's really sharp. I'm now waiting for the new Canon 6D and it's new kit 24-70mm f-4 lens that I think might be more sharper then the older Canon 24-105. I already own the 100mm Macro so the 24-70 would be just fine for me as a kit lens on the 6D and keep my XSi for backup camera as it still meets my needs. Also the new Canon 35mm lens just might be the lens to use for video too. We're already doing video and editing at work, but I want to learn it on the new EOS for my own personal use. We'll just see if Canon has another winner in this Canon 6D. In the mean time doing research on professional large format photo printers, lens reviews, and following the endless links on this wonderful photo website. Kevin
