Offer less features + charge more than the competition = Canon's recipe for success.

At least Canon added something to the MkIII that we haven't seen on a DSLR for some time.......mushy jpegs.

  • Replied in If u had millions, what would u buy?
$100mill could almost buy Pentax back from Ricoh. :) -- Zooms? pfffft!

The 50mm f1.4 is still considered a normal lens isn't it?

The 50mm f1.4 is still considered a normal lens isn't it?

Infact I remember a few years back when the Pentax 50mm f1.4 was selling new for around $200 at B&H...people were complaining that there...

    That was short and sweet.
I like the idea of DPR adding more video to their site and I bet that shirt is a real lady killer at the nightclubs Richo. :)

    @ET2

The K-5 looks better, (on the DPR graph at least), at all ISO's in all channels.

Agree that both the D800 and 5D MkIII show the advantage of more megapickles.

So how is the data for the new IQ graphs compiled?

Looking at the 5D MkIII RAW noise, (noise reduction set to zero), it appears that the...

  • Commented on Pentax K-30 16MP weather-sealed mid-level DSLR previewed news story

I like that idea. It could help to stop manufacturers adding "weather resistant" to their spec sheets when in the past all they implemented was a seal around the memory card flap.

  • Replied in And.......
I shouldn't respond here as the OP asked for it but......at least Pentax batteries don't blow up or catch on fire. :) -- Zooms? pfffft!
  • Replied in To be honest, insecurity complex
Because in a world flooded with Canikon users, a single Pentax user is seen as a fanboi even when only stating facts, (rather than opinion), about the positives of a Pentax body. When an...
  • Commented on Pentax launches smc DA 50mm F1.8 for APS-C cameras news story

I don't think Pentax have ever had a K-mount 50mm f1.8 so I assume it's an all new design. The rounded aperture blades are also a nice touch for a beginner prime.

As an owner of an old Pentax...

  • Commented on Human Portraits @ 50mm @ f/1.8 (or wider) challenge

    Yeah I noticed that too.

Should they be DQ'ed or voted down?

  • Replied in Or not fake?
Your first instincts were right and it does looks PS'ed. The info screen on the LCD isn't even straight. If it was real then I'd be disappointed as it looks to have the same old 11 point AF...

Just wanna steal the thunder for once in my life and be first in this thread to say that Pentax RAW is cooked so it's not a fair comparison. :D -- Zooms? pfffft!
  • Replied in X-Pro1 Samples (Attention Pixel-peepers!!)
Assuming it is cooked, I hope you'll remain consistent and mention "cooked" RAW's in every single X-Pro 1 RAW thread that gets created here at DPR. -- Zooms? pfffft!
  • Replied in The new KING of high ISO is here.
I'll ask a question... Why does it matter if the NR is done in hardware or software as long as the result is improved output? http://www.canon.com/technology/s_labo/light/003/05.html CMOS...
  • Replied in It's RAW NR
I don't understand what the issue is here? It's kinda like asking sensor manufacturers to stop putting NR circuitry on the sensors. -- Zooms? pfffft!
