  • Thanks for the review. I incidentally started looking into Note 4 with a different aspect for serious photographers. It can be used as location backup device without much hassle. You can buy a...

  • That's exactly what I'm looking at too. A 7200 will give me enough reach and good AF. I tried it in a store and AF drive the lens as fast as D4. D800 was definitely slow.
  • Thanks for the input Tord. I thought about V1/J1 series too. But not sure about the IQ above ISO 200 or so. And what about AF. Are you happy with it? I think a D7200 will do for me..
  • Thank you Marianne. Excellent explanation.
  • Billy I can't tell it was instantaneous. But I've used my friend's Canon's before and honestly I didn't fee it was difficult. Of course it took a while to understand the wheels etc. But this time I ...
  • It may be odd that I felt rhe other way around even after using Nikon since 96. Now I have a 7DII that I feel more comfortable and easy to hold amd hndle than even D4. The controls are much better ...

We the old people who started photography before the 1/3rd stops even didn't existed, know these things well :-) I doubt many people started photography in digital era understand how the flash work ...

Yes, I read enough aboit the weight difference and sharpness. I also know about the tripod 'issue'. I will be using rhe lens alone and hand held most of the time. I shpot only wildlife. Need to ...

  • Replied in Thank you all.
Reading the replies, it looks like the biggest improvement is for 2X III extender which I'm not planning to get. If the AF speed is pretty similar i'd get version I that will save lots of money. I ...
  • Created discussions 300/2.8 I vs II. AF only
Hi guys I'm aware of sharpness and weight difference. How about AF speed difference between them? With and without TC 1.4... Not interested in 2x at the moment.
  • I agree. However, I decided if the subject is that far, it's not my shot :). I'm looking into D7100/D7200 to use as a teleconverter. For the price of 1.7 and 2X TC's we can get a 7100 and just use ...

    I think so :)

They looks nice of course :-). I think the lens+tc usually struggle if u shoot a bird flying at u (where the subject change focal plane quick). Anyway I know it's not an easy question to answer. ...
  • Will try to turn that on again. Do u keep the camera on when you are not shooting? I leave it on as it goes to sleep by itself.
  • Lance Looks like I have to agree with them based on my experience with super teles too. New 400/2.8 was not in my radar yet as I was using 500mm most of the time and when I bought the lens the ...
  • I'd love to have GPS information for all my images. Same as other shooting info.. I had to turn it off because I can't even get 500 images with one charge.
  • I think gps drains the battery fast. Unfortunately we need to keep gps on (otherwise why such a functionality?). Anyhow without gps the battery last for long for me.. -- Thanks Jemini Joseph http:/ ...
  • I have the lens and bought TC20E III when it came out. I didn't get acceptable result consistently. It could be the AF or the lens itself. I think 500mm is 'soft' compared to 400/2.8 and 600/4 VR ...
