for me as a sony user, i have experienced that the af-confirm doens't really work that great. it just "blinks" up when the camera thinks it may be focused right. at sony you have the focus peaking ...
  • yes. that's why I ask for the speed. the tamron ist out because it's simply too slow. what i have read so far: -both similar fast -minolta sharper at f2.8 -sigma and minolta on par at f4 now it ...

yes, one of those has AF-confirm (the red dot when it's sharp in the center) and the other one not.
  • Looking for a decent (!) 80-200 I don't mind scratches or a shattered coating as long as the glasses and the "fragile parts" aren't affected. I am paying no more than §900 for it, preferable a ...

I wouldn't even invest 50 bucks for this lens. it's not worth it. get that 10 dollar adapter and one lens off ebay and try it. then decide if you really want/need an adapter for ten times the price.
  • Some good comments. My question is, since I have a crop-camera, is the Sigma HSM not maybe on par with the 80-200 fast and picture-quality-wise? It costs half the amount, used. Any ideas?

Just read that you are looking for a 40. Oh well, I have the 58-2 with the same bokeh (I believe it's the same lens). It's not very sharp but has the same swirly bokeh for just 30 bucks. The shot ...
  • I am on a hunt for a fast zoom lens for my A77. I can't, and don't want to, afford the Sony G/Tamron VC 70-200, so I am looking in the "outdated line". Some lenses to consider: -Sigma OS/HSM (I ...
  • some good points. I have a new lens on my radar, the 80-200 (white) from minolta. it sells around 800Euro so it's still well under 1000 Euro (my MAX budget). I just wonder if it's still that good? ...
