it's a fact that this rumor is on going isn't it?

On Can computer corrections make simple lenses look good? article (162 comments in total)

how our eyes work, not so perfectly... how our brain correct the image collected on the light sensor is what we can learn and apply.

this is a good step forward.

it's your choice to upload jpeg or raw, what's the issue here?

Leandros S: Given Nikon's extremely poor track record with its "waterproof" Coolpix AW cameras (AW100, AW110), there may be some hesitation towards this new offering.

Their Digital Nikonos was plagued by leaking, flooding, corroded electronics...

forsakenbliss: this unit allows very easy water proof case design. which means cheaper price to get to do under water shoot.
one can even DIY one easily. just a tube.
exciting.

and I can use it on 10 inch tablet for instant focusing check.

it's already water proofed. :)

market, price - they just do it, they do not care.
Even if it comes down to madness, eccentricity, snobbishness: A few will applaude.
Isn't this how arts has been made (sometimes)?

Arts.. normally only one unique or a few pieces..
this....is like a picture frame added to a mass printed piece of art.
that picture frame is 5 times more that the price of the picture...

taamberg: This would be pretty cool as a $300 upgrade on top of a normal NEX.

Over 13x that amount? No deal!

30$ add on panels from China would be very probable. If anyone wants that at all in the first place.

On Bell Labs creates lensless single-pixel camera article (57 comments in total)
In reply to:

joe6pack: Interesting concept but I cannot see the application of this. You can do anyway with lens and get infinite DOF using pin hole camera as well.

With a single sensor, the camera needs to poll the sensor each time it modify the aperture array, which I believe is much slower than polling sensor.

This offer one way for lens-less image capturing. So minus away the distortion, light loss, defraction, color shift etc.

On New CompactFlash card to allow RAID-style 'mirroring' article (100 comments in total)

Flash memory generally starts to fail after a certain number of thousands of write actions.
Since that card's 32GB twins are designed to be written at the same time at mirror mode, both partitions will most likely start to fail at around the same time. Mirroring where both partitions that are failing... and that's when you really need mirror safe guard... does not sound safe.

Chances of card lost or total failure of circuit is definitely higher than chances of one partition is healthy while the other fails.

In reply to:

ManuelVilardeMacedo: It scares me to think people are actually buying these apps. While I can see some fun in using Motion Shot, the Light Shaft app is completely absurd. People should learn to photograph instead of relying on these thingies to make their pictures more (superficially) striking.

People like to use their money to make themselves or family & friends happy. They are not going to care fake or not fake. They are not going to say: "look, there were 5 skiers doing simultaneous jump. I took that picture." kind of stuff. Just have fun. why so rigid.

In reply to:

io_bg: Sony seem to be on the right direction.
On a personal tone: I'd love them to make a bigger body with a better hand grip. Coming from a mid-sized DSLR all these NEXes feel just too small.

when it is small, you can add grips, brackets to make it big to fit your hand.

if it is too big, you cannot make it smaller to fit your hand.

so smaller is better.

this saved it from becoming a paper weight, why not.
anyway they didn't boil the whole lens. just the barrel part & it was not pure water, chemical added to remove rust.
