Hey all. I just shot a few photos of some figurines with my A57, loving the results of a tripod with my 18-135mm lens. This are just some collectable, poseable figmas, cheap but nice cause they are...

I love my A57, but I have to third this guys motion and say the 16-50 is a brilliant piece of kit. I totally respect what it can do for a lens of it's range. It can easily replace four cheaper...

Ah shoot, your right. I did not remember the settings quite correctly I guess. I would edit my comments about the actual settings used but ah well.Any tips for calibrating my monitor so I can gauge...

I took these photos for a review which will be posted in a few days over at my figurine blog tomopop. They are watermarked as such so I apologize in advance for the watermarks. This was taken using...

Ouch. I'm not sure because I am a noob but I have a point to suggest.Always remember the switch on your lens trumps the switch on your camera. If your camera is set to MF but your lens is set to AF...

What is the minimum focusing distance of that lens in macro mode?
-
Wow those are beautiful photos. Good work on them. I will check out that lens.

Good advice and well taken. The 50mm Sony is way expensive though.
-
Thanks. I think this and the 90mm tamron are the two I am going to be watching for.

I've seen the phoenix 100mm for good prices. Is it a worthy lens? Also what did you think of that Tokina 100mm for 260 range?
-
So far I have found a Minolta 50mm 3.5 1:2 macro for 139 dollarsa Sigma 50mm 2.8 1:1 macro for 100!! dollarsA Tokina 2.8 100mm 1:2 macro for 260 dollarsAll are very tempting for macro lenses, but...

I would get the A57 with the 18-135mm lens, that way you can tell yourself you got the lens and paid $300 more for a spare body.
-
Wowww. Were you shooting with a tripod? 1/1000 shutter speed that is amazing.
-
I'm not sure if my opinion matters, but for me I have the 18-135mm zoom lens. It does most jobs well. I also have a 35mm prime lens.So in no particular order to help finish my set my lens wishlist...

Yes, your making a lot of sense. No harm in having more glass, right?
-
Love your macro photo there. I would be proud of it if I had taken one like that. I think I may save up for your 90mm macro, it looks sweet.
-
I was thinking about buying a macro lens but then someone I write with was telling me she uses a close up kit for all of her photos. Of course I am a little bit clumsy so I might be afraid of...

I like the crumpler, industry disgrace strap, very comfortable neck strap.

Based on my limited experience as a photographer and using the 18-135mm lens that came with my camera I will suggest that unless you want the wider end of your sigma to keep your sigma. The wider...
