Get familiar with the Quick Menu. Put your favorite menu options on it; it's the fastest way to access them

A legacy macro with adapter is a pretty good choice. Superior quality, relatively inexpensive. AF is not needed for products, as they don't move and the sharp areas are easy to see. Focus wide open...

If you merely want to shield the lens from the sun, this sort of shade will do:

The most effective shade is a compendium where a fairly...

The Albertina in Vienna says no... but people were sneaking pictures right and left.

My Nikon D3 has native 14-bit RAW. Converting to DNG reduces it to 12 bits. I use NEF for my conversions, then archive the original files in DNG as well as saving the NEFs.

Thanks, Lou. Dick, I've already tried simple renaming without success.

I want to rename my SD cards so they show up with descriptive names instead of NO NAME. Using the usual Mac techniques (slow double-click of the icon or renaming in Get Info) does not "stick" once...

You want to make very large prints without stitching multiple pictures together? There aren't any digital cameras with a dedicated panoramic aspect ratio. Look for a high-megapixel regular...

There are a fairly limited number of functions you can add to the Q Menu for easy access. Unfortunately, focus assist isn't one of them. You might try setting it as part of a custom shooting mode...

Before you sell the GX1, check out the Quick Menu. You can put most-used options on it and get to them with a button-push.

Here's the Manfrotto Bella V bag with the GX1, 14-42mm and 45-150mm Panny lenses. The yellow stripey thing is a mini beanbag which also cushions the camera in case I drop the bag. Under the 14-42mm...

The Panasonic GX1 is exceptionally compact, with a pretty good sensor. Here's a 1.8 gigapixel pano (not a mountain scene) with the GX1 and 45-150mm Panasonic...

The 45-150mm is good quality and extremely compact (about the size of the 14-45). Maybe more tele than you need. Shoot at f/8 or f/11 for best all-around sharpness.
